Maybe just need to let it do the Idle relearning for the engine computer or Initialization? See attachment.

Probably not OEM? OEM through dealership parts dept is likely under $10 USD, and a safer bet, my 2 cents.

Are you sure all the connections in the OCC installation are air/vacuum tight?

I used thread sealant (Rectorseal TruBlu) and hose clamps on all fittings/connections, and I put an o-ring under the dipstick on the OCC.

A vacuum leak will cause rough running and affect performance.

With fuel lines pushing onto properly sized barb-connectors I think you can skip clamps, they can actually be detrimental to the hose ends, especially the simple screw types.

Testing for air-tightness would be good if you can. I've got a piston style fluid transfer syringe:

Plus some T-connections and vacuum check valves:

    upload_2021-10-13_7-43-20.png

which I can arrange (with some vacuum tubing) so I can either apply-and-hold vacuum or pressure (depending on how I orient the check valves).

Maybe next time I've got the cans out of the car I'll test.

    Addendum:

The whole setup, currently set up for vacuum:

See from the gauge I can pull 20 inches. Not fantastic, but good enough for testing integrity of seals.

Thanks for all the helps and ideas.
I decided this morning to start taking thing apart again. I first drained some coolant and checked the seals and connections of the OCC. the output fuel line that goes from OUTPUT to the Manifold looks to be a bit kink. I rearranged it and straighten it out. I will put the air box back tomorrow and see if that what was causing the loud engine noise.

I disconnected the negative from the battery and left it for 20 mins. The problem is still there.

Try reading the attachment on my post. It says:
"NOTICE: Engine learned values cannot be reset by disconnecting the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal or removing the EFI MAIN and ETCS fuses"

Yes I saw that but i don’t have tech-stream. Saw a thread that indicated unplugging the negative will reset the throttle.

So the car is still hesitant but a bit better after straightening out the kink hose OCC.
I am gonna take the cooler apart on the weekend and check all the placement of gaskets.

a few ideas, which may or may not help:

    1. remove OCC and see if problem goes away? Some OCC on Amazon, i have heard, have the IN/OUT reversed? Maybe check that?
Are the hoses on the OCC sturdy and dont collapse during vacuum?
    2. get veepeak OBD adapter and car scanner plus Iphone app to read any codes, which may exists, but do not throw a CEL
    3. the entire EGR to manifold circuit is a very tightly bolted on set of gear. Maybe loosen all the mounting/bracket type bolts and tight up the members (components) of the chain?
    4. There is a TSB for sticking EGR valve assembly. maybe something in the cleaning process triggered the valve to stick all of a sudden?
    5. maybe some crud got knocked loose and fell into the intake ports?

If/when you find it, let us know. would be good to document. I'm working on EGR circuit cleaning in my 2010 as I type this up! Just paused for the evening.

The EGR assembly instruction in Repair Manual does talk about temporarily snugging the connecting bolts, then bolting it to the engine, then retightening, and checking for even contact. I sorta ignored it, but...

So I took all the spark plugs out and made sure it all tighten down correctly. Plugs 1-3 are all dirty and has carbon built up on the tips. Plug number for looks new. It looks like the car is running rich and foul up my spark plugs. Should I replace them or it is ok to reuse?
I also took out the egr cooler and the intake manifold to make sure nothing is clog. Did a quick cleaning on both again. Opened up the egr valve made sure the spring still works properly. Putting it back on by screwing on the magnet clockwise. Should the magnet be screwed in all the the way or only lightly so? This is the step I am having doubts but can’t find any info on this. Please let me know if you have any info on this.

I had the valve replaced by a dealer a couple years ago. I have a veepak Bluetooth OBD somewhere. I will see if I can pull any codes from it. Thanks

Haven’t opened up the valve myself, but I’ve read here, that screwing it down and then reassembling, it’ll spring back slightly. @ChapmanF will maybe weigh in.

So the car is still hesitant and loud at acceleration but once it gets up to about 30mph it quiet down and drives normal. The only other thing that I did was changed out my spark plugs from RockAuto. What do you guys think about these plugs?

I am thinking about switching it out for the OEM plugs from Toyota.

Has anyone used these plugs from RockAuto?
