    Hello everyone;
    Has anyone else noticed their side view mirror is loose.When we go to the car wash the driver side view mirror moves when the brushes wash it.It closes to the window when washed by the first brush and opens back up when the second hits it.The passenger side mirror never moves.Does anyone know if it can be tightened in any way or should we just take it to the dealer.Only have 7900 miles on the vehicle

    If your vehicle is still under warranty I would take it in. Otherwise removing the mirror mounting cover plate, on the interior of the vehicle, reveals a few bolts which can be tightened. At least that’s how it is on my Tacoma. I can’t imagine it’d be much different for most other vehicles.

    Thanks we will take it to the dealer.Sounds like it is a repair I don’t want to start.

    If you move the mirror in the opposite direction from the way the car wash pushes it toward the window, when the mirror is moved towards the front of the car, you can see a small hole in the plastic base. A pin fits in that hole in the mirror base that holds the mirror in the normal position. If you move both side mirrors you should be able to tell why the drivers side moves easier than the passenger side moves on your car.

    There are several pieces that can be ordered for the side mirrors, but the base is attached to the upper mirror section with a spring around the bolt or some other kind of connector that is not accessible easily if at all without breaking either the mirror base plastic or the permanent parts of the upper mirror plastic or both.

    From what I can see on my driver side broken mirror. it might be the hole in the base of the mirror got worn or the maybe the securing pin doesn't fit in the hole correctly any more. You should be able to figure out more by testing both side mirrors once you find the hole in the base.

    Replacing the drive side mirror was simple once the inside door liner was removed. Removing the door liner can be a challenge. the arm rest needs to be pulled up from the bottom than outwards away from the door liner.
    The wondow and mirror control assembly needs to be pulled up from the rear of the assembly. And the inside door handle cover behind the lever used to open the door needs to be pulled out to reveal a screw behind the cover. There are 2 more screws that are now accessible. Unplug the connectors that are accessible. Than pull the door liner from one of the bottom corners or any corner you can get a decent grip on and carefully pull the liner off the door. there is one more connector that needs to be unplugged after removing the liner. the curtesy light in the door. just unplug the connector, you should see the wire hanging or between the door and the liner.

    The mirror connector is attached to the door and is easy to unplug. than you pull back the rubber over the mirror nuts and use a 10mm socket or open end to unbolt the three nuts and the mirror come out.
    Like @road2cycle mentioned above. ;)
    Reassembly is the same in reverse order. Not really to bad on the whole.
    I lost one of the yellow clips on the arm rest, but found it the next day in the driveway.
    I've got a couple of pics, if interested. But I didn't get everything in the pics I wanted to get.
