Glass spots - how do you remove them?

    Human eyeballs at the scene with stereoscopic vision, enhanced by the ability to easily change viewing angle, can readily determine which of the several glass surfaces those spots are on, far better than we remote forum readers can possibly do. I see no good reason to challenge the OP on this.

    It is not a "challenge".

    It is an attempt to do some rational analysis of all the data that has been supplied.
    It is an attempt to be helpful.......as opposed to your comment which just stirs up trouble.

    Then.......do you NOT agree that something is being overlooked, since he lists at least 10 different methods of "cleaning", NONE of which has done any significant good ??????

    I did not ignore it. I said it was not funny... referring to replacing the glass. I did consult a glass company. They said we don't do that, we just install and remove.
    I probably need to talk to a glass cleaning company... or a scientist. I bet there is some kind of trick where you could put the window in a solution and run a current through it to draw the particles away from the glass and onto a charged plate. (sounds good in theory.)

    I forgot to mention that I tried this already... but I not exactly the same way. I will try it again.


    I tried duragloss too, but hand, but it did not make a difference

    I have tried:
    claying the windows.
    Invisible shield,
    Rain-x 1 in 2 cleaner
    Rain-X water-spot remover,
    Vinegar and water,
    Coca cola,
    50/50 wheel cleaner and water,
    White magic eraser,
    Isopropanol,
    Nail polish remover. (acetone)
    Meguiar's paint cleaner,
    Comet shower cleaner,
    Scrubbing bubbles bath and shower cleaner,
    A razor blade,
    Weiman's Ceramic and glass top cleaner.
    Duragloss
    something else I cannot remember.

    So far I do not believe I have scratched the glass.
    The Weiman's worked best.

    The spots are not on the inside of the window, there is no aftermarket tinting.

    I may try to get a new tube of Rain-x water-spot remover.
    Chemical guys gel glass spot remover comes tomorrow.w

    If I get an DA or orbital polisher... I will try that as well.

    Your declaration that the spots are inside, not outside, collides with several clues in OP's second and third basepost images that strongly suggest these spots are first surface reflections (nearest optical surface, i.e. outside), not a second or tertiary surface (e.g. inside).

    It would seem that OP's work so far ought to have taken care of raised surface spots such as "water spot" or the top half of "bonded minerals". But instead of immediately jumping to a conclusion that the spots must therefore be second-surface, this illustration clearly shows two additional first-surface issues worthy of exploration: the bottom half of "bonded minerals" possibly embodied in the glass, and also "etching" into the glass.

    Even if those ideas don't bear fruit, it is still not logical to jump to a conclusion that this must be a second-surface matter. Especially now that OP subsequently clarified that these are not inside.
    "disagreeing with Sam Spade" == "stirring up trouble". When there is reasonable basis to do so, so be it.

    Did you have the car WITH you at the time, so that they could LOOK at it ?
    Maybe a company that does tinting would be a better choice.
    Or a different glass company.

    I said it was a reasonable conclusion, not a guaranteed one.
    And the WAY that you disagree with people often is insulting and demeaning, no matter who it is.

    Is better to ask than assume someone is inept. Also, as these threads get long, important details and data gets overlooked... hence the comments disregarding previous mentions. It is wasteful... but it is going to happen. My hopes are that the glass is not etched... and if it is... well guess I am going to have to look up the best ways to deal with that short of replacement, because that is not going to happen. What I want is to be able to see out the windows in the perfect bad weather situations: ie, when the temp is just cool enough for a fog or light mist to stick to the windows and enhance the deposits and make it impossible to see out the windows correctly with oncoming headlights or when driving towards the sun. Micro scratches from various methods would also destroy the windshield making it impossible to see when driving towards bright lights due to refractions. Furthermore, the windshield and replacement service on a gen 4 Prius is EXTREMELY expensive due to the antennas and electronics in it.

    Hence all responses are appreciated and filtered appropriately... despite any lack of tact... misguided good intentions... or solid basis.

    I will post results... as should anyone who posts here, so there can be closure and a positive learned result that benefits others with the same question in the future. I have noticed a lot of posts here with questions and no final answer... which is most unfortunate.

    Indeed.
    Another idea/clarification:
    Look for a "window glass/mirror store" in your area that does repairs.
    They often have people there who really ARE glass experts and not just broken glass changers.

    There are not many here. All closed today... one place. However...

    I am impressed with chemical guys waterspot remover gel so far. Huge difference!

    So hard to see on phone... but the left side of the window had it applied. Suprised at how dirty they are asside from spots.
