I’ve never messed with the HV battery and I’ve never had it serviced. I’m guessing it came like that from factory. How bad is this, I’ve owned the car since 2015 and put on 120k miles

Yea... They phased out the vent tubes around about 2012 because the hybrid cooling fan does a good enough job at sucking fumes out of car in a battery failure when pack heats up. I suspect main reason for this is the known problem of NiMH fumes coming out of the vents reacting to rubber in the vent tubes and creating a yucky electrical smell inside the car and people complain about it.

The only vent tube on my 2012 is on the 12V battery. I'm not seeing any indications that NiMH battery venting has anywhere near the potential toxicity of lead-acid venting.

After 10 I think the vent tubes are gone. Good riddance not needed nimh fumes are nothing to worry with You have a fan back there running anytime the battery's doing anything worthwhile and that fan is sucking anything back in that area of the car and putting it straight out the back vent cigarette smoke battery fumes dog breath doesn't matter that fan is whipping that stuff right out of there pretty quick
