Yes, covered under comprehensive after your deductible - but it's the down time and inconvenience of it all. You probably shouldn't park it at the airport long term parking, or other such venues.

I've seen videos where these cat thieves pull up right next to your car in a shopping mall and can have the cat out in less than a minute.

Your comprehensive insurance should cover it, but the Prius will be undriveable for an extended period until everything is replaced.

Stainless steel Miller Cat plate cost me about $190 (bought it on a 5% discount they offered over a holiday weekend.

Installation was about $170 at a certified Miller Cat installer.

    Peace of mind.. priceless.

Any report of this Stainless steel plate will send them packing?

    TIA,

The plate and prominent decals mentioning it is installed will hopefully be sufficient disincentive to make would be thieves move on to an easier target. After all, these dirt bags want to avoid work (hassles) and move along as stealthily as possible.

    Conversely, you might install this:

IMHO, any CAT shield will do in combination with a motion alarm - should be enough of a deterrent, to encourage a CAT thief move-on.
The car must be jacked-up to get to the CAT. The removal of a CAT shield will simply slow-down a thief; but with flashing lights and alarm blaring - thieves usually don't want to stick around, since the car is drawing attention.

I totally forgot ...so the factory alarm: will it detect all the locomotion? I will try it out.

Factory alarm only detects door openings. A motion/glass breakage sensor is an add-on - well worth it IMHO.
If your not sure the add-on is installed; lock the car and wait 3 minutes - then grab a fender and rock the car. No alarm - no add-on.

I been review a few thing: it is seem that the PP are not in the picture (for now) but I will add a SS catshield as a protection.

For those who are also in the market: there are few motion sensor detector out there that hit the spot: and I am enjoy to see those crook just run like hell and leave their tool behind :)
