    I found in my 2005 that, even if the outside temp is below freezing, when you reduce the inside temp thermostat to 65, it goes to max air conditioning.

    Ok, Say your 12 volt battery runs out, would it be possible to "jump start," by going up to around 30MPH in EV mode, then shifting to the "B" engine brake mode to turn the ICE until it starts and in turn, make the alternator recharge the 12 volt?

    I use the Calendar/Memo function to do this, by noting Tttt Ggg.g Aaa.a Eee.e, where "ttt"=Trip miles, "gg.g"=Gallon, "aa.a"=Calculated MPG and "ee.e"=Computer estimated MPG. When you do this you also see your fillups graphically in Calendar view. I can readily see that I routinely fill up every 6 days. This makes me ask, is there any way to download memos into an Excel spreadsheet?

    Interesting concept... if your battery would be so dead as to not be able to boot a computer, your not going anywhere..... EV mode or not.
    The Computer has to be on before "anything" works in the way of propelling your car to the best of my knowledge.

    But could someone pull you with a rope and do that..is another question?

    I just carry an extra booster battery you can get for 50.00 bucks that has 1100 cold cranking amps "far more than you need to boot a computer" and a light and airpump all in one... that way no one is messing with your car that doesn't know what they're doing, and you will never be tempted to help someone out by jumping them off your car.

    Interesting idea for Calendar use, which (IMHO) is a pretty useless feature in itself.

    I know appointments can be programmed in the calendar and tie to the a NAV destination, so it will prompt you when you start the car, but since there is no time associated, it seems minimally useful as I generally make more than one trip per day. Or am I missing something?

    As for the Excel question, I highly doubt there is any way to download Calendar data, into Excel or otherwise. Which further backs my opinion about this being a useless feature. :lol:

    I simply carry a PocketPC and track all my mileage, appointments, contact info, etc... in there. Much more elegant. ;)

    Thanks for the response! So are you confirming that the EV control systems all run off the lead/acid battery? Nonetheless, it's been my experience with other cars, that a battery's ability to crank and start a motor ends far above the amount of energy needed to run accessories and cpu's. Thus my thought that EV would still be available for getting up to push start speed, without external assistance. I don't think I'd ever find it necessary to carry around an extra battery as insurance for battery failure. Rather, just replace the OEM battery with a more durable/higher cranking amps one, once the OEM started showing signs of weakness.

    Nope.... I"m saying the EV needs the use of the computer to engage the car the same as when using normally to engage the engine. Until the Computer is up and running, you have nothing.
    Without the computer, I don't even think Accessories run? "not sure about that one"

    So if there is enough juice to boot the computer.... all else will work anyway, because the big traction battery comes into play to reimburse the 12V system anyway with its inverter.


    First computer, then EV or ICE.

    I know of no way to get the car moving without first the computer "which boots off of 12V".

    Someone will correct me if I"m wrong.

    On 2007+, on the CDs that play MP3 disks, holding down or up for a few seconds will change to the next FOLDER on the MP3 disk (if it has multiple folders).

    --No 6 CD player in my car - but I create 10 folder MP3 disks, and it acts just like a multiple CD player for me. Now, if I could just get that damn motion sensor to let me look at the folders and songs while moving!!! Strange, I can view lots of info on the car, but seeing the name of the song I am listening to while driving, that is bad. Odd choice. (anyone know if there is a bypass for this?)

    integrating a clock on the MFD would not be that expensive, but adding the ability to adjust it might be. considering that a cheap LCD clock probably costs Toyota about a nickel, the decision is not hard to make

    Ok, you're wrong! :D Just kidding!

    Has anyone noticed that if you start the car at night, with the lights on, the light come on for a second or so, at a certain level. Then there is the hint of a click and the lights brighten. This is the safety relay between the high voltage and low voltage systems coming on, and the inverter powering up. This cannot happen until the computer (s) boot up. So, unless there is sufficient power coming from the low voltage system, nothing will happen, even if the car is rolling downhill at 50 MPH. (Of course, this couldn't happen either, because you couldn't get the system out of park)

    I tend to think of the 12v battery to be like the CMOS battery you have on your motherboard.

    Glide mode works at greater than 42 mph - does anyone else see this?
    This is the "no arrow" mode. I thought it was only possible at < 42 mph.

    Your battery has to be fully charged..almost overcharged to get it to work.. like after coming off a long hill, the car is looking for an excuse to drain the battery anyway.... if your battery was that charged enough for this to happen and you simply pulled off the road and just sat there, your engine would most likely cycle to burn off the excess....

    Its called "super EV" and a few other names I can't remember...

    You can get it to work up to 65 or so, but its "very" short lived... once the battery gets to normal ranges it stops.... and the engine never turned completely off in the sense of no movement, it was churning with no gas....

    I don't remember anyone of authority saying you could not glide over 41, just that the ICE continues to spin and you cannot go EV mode only above 41.

    The sway bar has only one connecting link. After pulling the wheels to rotate at 5,000 mi., I couldn't find the link on the right rear axle. I placed a link for my '81 Mercedes 300D (the Z-shaped rod with threaded top and bottom) in front of the Pri's for comparison in the photo. The Pri's is behind the threaded top piece.
