Honestly it's the sort of thing you should be able to work out with a visual inspection... and from everything I've read in this thread so far, the whole problem here is that you haven't got the correct RFID capsule in any of the fobs you have for this car.

I tend to agree with Leadfoot. When I questioned the service adviser about that he said the technician wanted to replace communication module before proceeding. How do fobs be tested for valid or functional RFID's? There is only one fob for the car, and it had functioned correctly as long as we have had car.

Have you checked the fuses? After the dead battery jump, blown fuse can be a typical result. Start by going back to the jump scene and get your friend to explain exactly how he jumped the C.

Beyond that the only other course of action for you might be to get a 2 day subscription to Techstream for $20 and read up on the immobilizer system for your specific year and model , 2014 C.

114K miles. Anyone know if I buy a used power management control ECM if it will need to be programmed to car?

On another forum someone said the power management unit doesn’t need to pe programmed. I’m trusting in that and ordered a used unit from a Prius C of the same year for $39. Should be here tomorrow. Have the old unit out already.

I received the used power management unit. The mounting bracket was bent, put case was fine. Removed mount from original unit and installed on one that came. I installed it in the car, attached the battery leads, and tried the door lock function. Locks worked as the should. Immobilized light was lit on dashboard. I pressed power button and nothing happened. With the original power management unit the display would activate, speedo, warning lights, etc. The immobilized light was still on. I assume that the PM unit may need to be programed?
I came across a post by Waldox who had a similar problem that was faulty wiring between PM ecu and certification ecu. That will be my next adventure. Can anyone tell me the location of the communication ecu? I'm almost to the end of my interest in this car. Thankfully I'm retired and have other means of transportation. What would its value be in it's current condition, with extra PM ecu? Ha ha.

It would if the immobilizer would let it. That has been the problem. If you start with my original post it will be explained.

i have to think a non running 11 year old car with 111k with unknown problems isn't worth much, but if you can find the right buyer who is savvy about these things, they might give you close to kbb unless they think it's going to be an expensive fix.
