Thanks KMO for the best advice! Brute force unhooking 2 hooks at rear is wrong, difficult, and won't release front hook.

Well it finally happened, the broken rear tab which had been dangling by a very thin bit of plastic finally let go completely and wandered off into the great unknown. Now with only the innermost of the two rear tabs still present, and the front latch engaged, the lid holds down, but not all that well. The part where the missing tab is can lifted up a few millimeters with no effort at all. It may let some dirt in.

Repairing that missing tab looks like it won't be easy. Any idea how much clearance there is between the top of the fuse box and the bottom of the hood? If it's just an inch or two maybe a block of rubber glued to the lid will hold it down tight?
