There's an electrically heated wire foam cutter that I've used on 2" foam. It might be the ticket for this.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to keep this in mind when I eventually take this project on myself.

I didn't have any tools of my own (Yay apartment living...), but I ended up using a bread knife from my kitchen. It ended up doing the job just fine

Yes, I bought the spare off the list in this thread.

I have been driving our new 2024 XLE on the weekends and trying to research the spare issues. Ours cam equipped with 19" Michelin and I am pleased with the ride so far. I'm trying to figure out did your solution include two boxes, left and right, of white or dark styrofoam to "cradle" the spare and be a sound deadener. Is it white styro or other? Will it take a full size tire? Would a compact spare be viable for the space? Thanks in advance.

It is two pieces of foam to "cradle" the spare. A full size tire will fit in the space, but will bulge out of the top, so you can use it in a pinch, but I would not plan on putting a full-size spare in there full-time. The compact spare fits in there perfectly.

This looks like the Modern Spare tire? How did you end up getting a bolt long enough to screw in + secure the tire?

It sure is. I had to get creative. Special ordered M8 bolt that I believe was 7” long. Used 2 M8 nuts and washers and was able to use OEM knob. Worked perfect!

Ooo perfect, do you have a link or the dimensions to what you bought? I also have a Modern Spare tire, and it's just sitting unsecured right now since the OEM bolt was too short.

I used the parts from the first post in this thread. The pictures of my installation are on pages 4 and 6.
