My question was for @jacktheripper , not for you, but if you want to answer about Jack's formal education and work experience, be my guest. I thought it would be better if it came straight from Jack.

Hey brian1954 I asked you the same questions, did you just take mudders word?

Im guessing you did just take his word...

You took his bait, hook, line and sinker.

It seems some are playing third grade games and bullying when the issue is safety and reliability. What about all the lithium customers that are being left behind as a safer sodium battery is rolled out?

The space shuttle went up successfully three times even though Morton Thiokol engineers were sounding the warning. Management overrode the engineers and convinced NASA their rocket’s safety and reliability were proven by the first three flights. The fourth blew up in front of the nation. The engineers were right.

We hear 4000 (?) have the lithium packs and smoke rising from a pack was faked with a torch to discredit Nexpower. By a scorned engineer’s collusion with a customer. Sure.

Can we close this thread again? It's turning into a flamewar cesspool.

    @AzusaPrius, there's a reason I trust mudder.

When Mudder finds faults with his released products, he publishes what the ISO calls Corrective Action Responses.

He doesn't gloat to anyone that he does this. I only discovered that he files these when reviewing the git logs of his product.

This is paperwork. This lets an engineer say what happened, and what they did.

    Some examples:

    Honda_Insight_LiBCM/Electronics/PCB (KiCAD)/Motherboard/RevC/CARs/CAR061 - TRIAC Overheats with larger grid chargers .txt at 48e98eb155f4603aa8749fc98645f324bdb75dd0 · doppelhub/Honda_Insight_LiBCM · GitHub

I'd have a *lot* more faith in NexPower -- and in you, @jacktheripper -- if you filed these. I could then trust, as an end-user, that even *if* my product failed, I am in a public class of consumers who have had this issue identified. I just want to know I exist.

On the flip side, I could go and find out whether or not a particular pre-failure is occurring in my product.

That is the entirety of my response. I'm not adding anything more to this thread -- I should probably not be responding anyways, because I know that @AzusaPrius has a long-running habit of posting inflammatory statements.

It's one thing to overemphasize problems.

You're taking it way too far if you're accusing people of really evil kinds of fraud/conspiracy.

Edit: Aand, thread unwatched. I've given it my all. I hope this is the last non-admin post :^)

Does Toyota come out and say why they changed the Prius ICE on the Gen 4 or did they just make another version?
And guess what? People come here and publicly dissect the reasons for the failure, yet no one from Toyota comes here trying to smash down all opposing opinions, even those based on facts and science. Toyota doesn't complain that we should be supporting them, not trying to "tear down their business".

I've tried becoming more civil towards you because I actually think you may be spectrum challenged, just based on your arguing like a 6 year old mentality. I asked Jack some questions, not you. Your responses are effing stupid. How many people need to tell you that before you believe it and just be quiet? There's a saying about arguing with idiots...they're better at it than you and will just beat you down with the same idiocy over and over again. You keep proving that saying is true. The way you post, you also have "sauce on your face and shirt" but it came from NexPower.

I take it back. Come on, @TMR-JWAP, don't feed the trolls. If I'm not mistaken, @AsuzaPrius is *paid to do this*.

Rjparker that smoke in the car was actually not faked, that was an issue with QC and Jack repsonded to it on how it happens.

The fake burnt modules stencil_box was with a torch, dont mix the two up.

hurricos you can trust mudder if you want, that is your problem but to ask to close this thread is different just because you dont want to see some truth put out there.

You dont have to come here and read anything, you can simply ignore it all.

But you choose to get involved and want to say something and thats okay but dont stoop to kid level and ask to close a thread in this section of the forum which is open to discuss anything. I wish I got paid to post anything, that would be awesome wouldnt it?

tmr-jwap we have been through all of this before, you say something and then I do but in the end you keep getting mad.

You should take an anger managment program or something.

Anyone who doesnt see the truth in this thread is free to walk away and ignore it if it is all made up nonsens, but it is not and that is why it upsets the ones who believe in mudders plot.

I welcome anyone else to the table who can actually read between the lines and has some sort of logic.

You're being a jerk to people! Why? You're accusing a person I consider my friend -- remember, I have Mudder's pack installed in my car and helped him with some code! -- you're accusing them of what I'm pretty sure is a crime.

If you're not being paid by Jack, why are you handling his order numbers / dealing with PriusChat orders for him? It really seems like there's a contractual relationship going on there -- not that that's illegal or even bad.

Yes, I do. I do, because you folks have been stubborn and recalcitrant jerks to an engineer friend of mine whom I'd like to continue to be able to do engineering with me -- with all of us. I really wish you'd see that -- as soon as you made an engineering problem personal, you -- personally you -- took away hours, days, months from peoples' lives, and your own, that you could have instead spent productively answering the question, "how can I help fix this?"

Please, look in a mirror and ask yourself: do you want to be better for yourself, or worse for everyone else?

And *now*, I will use the power granted to me by this great ol' forum to take a nice break from @AsuzaPrius. Might I suggest everyone else in this thread do so too?

hurricos I have no clue who you are or your relation with mudder and if it sounds like a crime well then I guess it could be, certainly seems shady for sure.

I am not on Jacks payroll but I am in touch with him and would relay any order numbers if given any.

I am a tester of his products though and never had any smoke or fires.

You are free to continue to work with mudder, no one is stopping you from that.

Im good and I dont worry how anyone else thinks of me, that is something within them, I cant do nothing about that.

Great job hurricos I am glad that after only 17 posts in this forum since you signed up, you have managed to find the ignore button and use it. (Hopefully)

It's interesting to see how some folks get all wrapped up in the backstory, nitpicking details that have little to do with the quality of the work at hand. When you buy a product, do you dive into the personal history of everyone involved in its creation, or do you focus on what the product can do for you? The same logic applies here.

As for those who seem intent on tearing down what I've built, it’s usually the loudest voices online that haven’t even made a purchase. They spend more time spreading negativity than actually contributing anything constructive. To those who question everything, let me ask: do you walk outside your house every day scared of the air, or do you trust that you’ll be fine? The same should go for this—look at the results, not the noise.

And speaking of perspectives, have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe, the constant barrage of criticism is coming from folks who are in bed with the competition? It’s amusing how quick some are to point fingers without even realizing they’ve got three pointing back at themselves.

Damn, this ignore thing doesn't work so good! It's too easy to undo.

Full disclosure: my objective is to get John back to working on engineering problems.

    > hurricos I have no clue who you are or your relation with mudder

I'm a random Vermonter who was convinced by @ttsgeb to buy a G1 Insight in Aug 2022. I fell in love with the car, the battery had failed (Honda mismanages the NiMH cells), so I eventually bought LiBCM (Dec 2023). I work for PCC, a pediatric-specific EMR company -- my job is boring -- but outside of work, I have an embedded Linux and C background and at some point decided to pitch in on debugging the OEM battery and motor control system, all the way down to dumping and decompiling the firmware on the MCUs, for which I had to write a GHIDRA SLEIGHspec -- here's that thread.

I'm not paid by Mudder or anyone else involved in any way (including money, goods and services).

I also do not sell any products, nor ever will I (I prefer reproduceable open-source design), so I do not benefit from any affiliation -- I know @AsuzaPrius benefits from NexPower's success, the affiliate code is in his bio, so yes, you are paid by NexPower.

    > You are free to continue to work with mudder, no one is stopping you from that.

I actually can't, he's too busy negotiating with Jack's legal team instead of doing real work. That's my problem. As soon as legal threat was put forward -- I don't know which side made official/unofficial legal threats first -- some stupid amount of time was lost for everyone. It has been *hell*.

    > Other than that who wants another round of coffee?

You can pretend to be pleasant all you want, but the truth is that you still benefit financially from "winning" this controversy.

I benefit from this controversy being over, not winning it. I just want John back to tearing down random power electronics.

This is why, every time someone posts another one of these threads with an inflammatory premise ("three forum members are committing fraud"), I can only groan. That's not good feedback.

    Examples of good feedback:

    - "I'm amazed -- apparently this cell can handle really high temperatures without degradation"
    - "This glue won't hold at 70*C"
    - "I think you're wasting everyone's time by spreading conspiracy theories"

    Other examples of bad feedback:

    - "My legal fees are $500/hour"
    - (smashing Prius battery ECUs down on table)

Edit: mass edits as I learn how formatting works on this forum software.
