Sodium-ion 12v battery

    Here is a prototype of the sodium-ion 12v version for our Prius by Nexcell.

    I need to get terminal adapters to make it work as my cables were changed to normal terminals when I bought it.

    I question the size, 4 x 200Ah Sodium ion cells will fit in the same spot the original lead acid 12v battery fitted. Just requires a good active cell balancer as the Prius max 12v recharge is well below the 16v the 4 x 200Ah cells can handle, and not much hope of drawing more current than the 200Ah cells can deliver, or charging faster than they can accept it ..... It would certainly be enough capacity to run an inverter from for camping or emergency house power during a grid outage ......

    It is unlikely that 4x200Ah will fit into the auxiliary battery compartment of the Prius.
    The dimensions of the 200Ah are quite large. Weight 35 -+1.5 kg.

    Ummmm...... I guess it depends on the brand cells/battery you buy. There is no value in buying a battery in a battery case that is built out of prismatic cells, and the last thing you would want to buy is a battery built out of pouch cells unless it is a factory build and has cooling plates between the pouches. They are by far the most prone to heat destruction by bursting the pouch on the centre pouches if they are all squeezed in together in a single case, the inner pouches have no way of dissipating their heat. The only other type of battery built in a case are made out of cylindrical cells, fine for high output use, but no good for cyclic use ..... too many variables between the cell parameters with such low capacity per cell, all connected in parallel to make capacity.

    The last lot of sodium ion cells I was testing, before my house burnt down (not related) were shorter than the Winston 100Ah cells and the same physical sizes otherwise. I have been using ex house battery pack 100Ah cells in a compressed pack of 4 as a 12v battery in all my vehicles once the lead acid one passes on, they seem to be fine for such a low load job, even less load in either on my two Prius, they fit in the battery spot just fine.
    The next lot should arrive within the mth, they are for the new house batteries in our "new to us" motorhome.

    They are only ex house battery cells because the user dragged the battery down till no cell had a 1v reading, the ones that recover have lost capacity so not generally suitable for reuse, ones that have been dragged into negative voltage (the current pulled backwards through them) simply won't recover, that destroys lithium cells

    Any battery has an Energy unit per unit volume or Energy unit per unit weight rating.
    What were the ratings on your battery?
