The EGR delete is intriguing because in many countries like Brazil, they do not have EGR in Prius 3. EGR is one of the biggest enemy in Diesel engine after DPF fuel dilution problems because the shoot from Diesel is much more and become abbrasive to the engine. Many folks delete it completely in states that do not require it.

Toyota may make other changes in the Prius they make without EGR, say run the engine a little richer.

I doubt that, it will increase fuel consumption. The old fashioned way, just opened the exhaust valve during the intake cycle works fine in Older Corolla and Camry did it that way, it is just not cooled and maybe not as efficient in reducing NOx.
NOx is pollutant for human but food for plants. It becomes Nitrate when reacts with water. Newer cars also start having GPF, shoot filter. Not sure if the 5th gen has one.
EGR is one of the source of engine wear because soot got sucked in and it is abrasive. Routing it after the catalytic converter is a smart move. Reduce the sludgy oil, carbon soot, and radicals.

Revisiting this bit, looking for words of wisdom.
I had the "water sloshing" sound most of last year during engine restarts that I attributed to a waterpump slowing going out.
    P261B

    DIY'd waterpump and thermostat.
"water slosh" on engine startup disappeared.
I spent the required time with fronts on jackstands to fully cycle the heating system a few times to purge any air out of the system.

Just started hearing it again after 6'ish months.
No obvious leaks down low, engine coolant reservoir not reading (measurably) low.
I'll try bleeding it again after the heatwave.

    Zero codes on dr prius.

Possible headgasket leak? (JDM engine replacement about 80,000miles ago)

Any recommendations to pre-emptively unplug the EGR? (no history of cleaning, don't plan to either).
    Penny for your thoughts.

If the coolant level is still the same, than you only need to bleed the air. The sloshing noise can be caused by the mechanics who rebuild the engine forgot to install the plastic filler on the water jacket on the short block.

Third gen's, including Prius v, don't have the plastic filler?

    A few thoughts:
The early Gen3's had a bleeder valve at the high point of the coolant system. If yours doesn't have that fitting maybe you could loosen a hose in that same area and try to get air and coolant to come out. But it may require that the coolant has a bit of pressure. You don't want to open a hose connection only to have it suck in air because everything is downhill from that spot. You could try while it's still warm after a drive, but not hot and scary.....

If you're not loosing coolant the mystery head gasket is hanging in there, but it's still a clicking clock, correct?

EGR disconnect can be done easily, if you're willing to drive around with the check light on.

At the same time that Toyota revised that fitting to no longer have a valve you could open, they revised the coolant fill instructions in the repair manual to no longer have any mention of fiddling with that valve while filling. They did not replace them with new instructions to loosen hoses or fiddle with anything else. They just took out the instructions to fiddle with anything there, leaving the basic procedure of filling the degas bottle to B, capping it, running the engine for several minutes past operating temperature, and letting the air get circulated back to the headspace in the bottle.

It seems sometimes we get so attached to a certain ritual that even if the manufacturer figures out it isn't needed to get a successful refill, years later we still want it back.
