OEM spare tire install

Total approximate miles on tire? I'm wondering when to replace my OEM tires.

 

It happened around 50,000 kms (30,000 miles).

 

Here's what I did. Just used what i had and cut it to fit the tire in. Going to get the bolt down to hold it in place, and I have the Cabling protected under the spare as well. I'm not spending $400+ for some Styrofoam inserts.

 

So why doesn't Toyota give you that option?

that’d be the option most every buyer would take. See what’s wrong with this business model? The only thing that’ll turn this trend around is a boycott.

 

That's what I did and it worked out fine. Tip: Mazda CX-5 jacks are good quality. Check your junkyards.

 

Last month, I picked a set of OEM 19s for a great price. Now I have my 17s as an extra set of wheels, my plan is to use one of them as my spare, hence now I'd have a full size in the trunk, granted it'll take some space and add weight. But now i'll have 3 wheels in the garage, unless I find buyers for each that would like a full size spare lol
