Hello! I’m hoping someone can help me determine something. all I need is someone to hopefully have a photo or 2 of the inside of a 18+ rav4 NiMH battery. The service manual has a good bit of detail in their drawing but I do not work at a dealer and these cars would only be having warranty claims. By the book it shows the case is opened during R&R. I have searched high and low and cannot find any photos and I cannot find any cores to be able to dissect.
What year are you looking for? The design changed between 2018 & 2019 model years, If it is the same as the Prius Prime, this video may help.
A 2018-2023 NiMH only. The main change to my understanding is that some started coming with lithium as well. However this is the answer I’m after did the *NiMH* cells have a form factor change in that transition as well. a prime battery would be lithium so it’s no applicable here. Thank you though.
I have TIS it does not. It has some basic diagrams that make it look very very similar but I want to be certain before spending $1000 to harvest some nearly new modules. TIS just says 34 7.2v modules nothing specific to their form factor. I assume they are the same but assuming gets you into a bad place.
Sadly there isn’t a part number for the modules themselves. The battery p/n will only confirm if NiMH or lithium. I’m gonna have to be the test experiment I think unless someone chimes in from a dealer who’s had to swap one under warranty. TIS shows opening the case when swapping a failed battery.
