I have two 2010 models. On one, with key fob in my pocket, I can unlock the front passenger door and hatch, but on the other car, I can only do that with the driver's door and then have to manually unlock the whole car. Yes, I could fish the fob out of my pocket, but I have a lot of other things in that pocket.

My question is: is the different behaviors based on hardware or programming? If the later, I'll dig out TechStream and change the programming.

What level are the 2 cars? Toyota’s always limited multi-door unlock with a touch to the upper levels, with the base level restricted to drivers door only.

too, with the upper levels, there’s an owner-programable setting, to alternate between drivers door only and all doors. IIRC you can press-and-hold lock and unlock fob buttons, till dash beeps and displays an icon, showing a car with all doors ajar, or single door. Each time it alternates.

it’s explained in owners manual, somewhere.

    if you google:

3rd gen prius touch to unlock priuschat

the AI overview explains too, but I’d check against the manual.

there’s various priuschat threads on it, one example.
