I see only few people talk about Car Scanner Pro app on here for Gen 2, so i am opening this thread to show how cool this app is for Gen 3 too. I got it yesterday and so far, it's amazing. If you have an experience with it, you can also share. PROS: -It has alot of sensor reading for Prius -Customisable Dashboard -Custom Action PID -Coding CONS: Electric Pump RPM reading isn't functional for me at time of writing. I can display upto 30 sensors and action on the app dashboard, which includes Engine, Battery, Distance since codes clear, warms up e.t.c Also create a custom action to clear DTC on the go without leaving the Dashboard screen. (04 is the custom command for ELM327 DTC code clearing) My current Dashboard look:
Car Scanner coolant temp diagnostic aids Stuck Exhaust heat Recirc valve coolant temperature sensor in red Good exhaust recirc valve
CONS: It is not capable of communicating with all the ECUs in a Gen 3 Prius, but it comes very close. You just need to know its limitations. https://priuschat.com/index.php?posts/3564647 It is a very nice app for most people to use. It is better than 95% of the scanner apps that are available. I like it very much.
Has anyone been able to get the inverter coolant temp to display in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius in the Car Scanner Pro app? For some reason, the global setting of imperial measures doesn't apply to the readings from this sensor. I can confirm that the engine coolant pump rpm sensor doesn't return any value. On the other hand, inverter coolant pump rpm can be monitored, but it seems to be a constant value.
This means some reading might be working in Fahrenheit and not work in Celsius. Nice observation. Is there somewhere to get all the temperature RED limit pointers for Gen 3?
The alarm limits are in the repair "manual". Portion Engine coolant temp is 248f. I setup separate temperature alarms lower than the vehicle's.
Newbie here. Two questions: 1) What is this "repair manual" you speak of, and where can one find it? 2) Does one have to purchase the Pro version of Car Scanner to get access to these hybrid-specific readings? Viewing these parameters on the infotainment screen via CarPlay while driving should be fun...for about a week or so, until the novelty wears off, lol. The best part would be no physical changes to car, unlike a previous gauge project of mine. Thanks
1. I attached 2010 repair manual, Temperature measurements at Page 593 2. For the Dashboard, No. It sure look nice because it's highly customisable. .
Thanks! I'd be looking for a '26 version. I downloaded a late model manual the other day, but I don't think it has this info. I guess it'll surface once they start screwing up, lol. CarPlay, which along with Android Auto is on the late models, is a revelation for me. edit: Upon looking closer, what I downloaded might have that info!
