Let us know. It would be strange to have the sensors installed but not working unless they are dummy sensors. I don’t think anyone here reported having the sensors installed on an LE/SE but not working.

When I removed and reinstalled the rear bumper cover on my Gen 4 Prius Prime Limited PHEV to replace the left-hand combination lamp because someone had hit-and-ran my car in a parking lot, I made sure not to touch the sensors because the cost of calibration is astronomic.

I think the confusion is because you and others are misunderstanding exactly what Toyota means by F/R Parking Assist with Automatic Braking as an option. I'm pretty sure(like 99%) that all Priuses(and all TSS 3.0 cars in general) have F/R Parking Assist. That's why the LEs and SEs have the ultrasonic sensors. You're going to see the warning segments on the rear view camera and you're going to get the warning tones if you get too close to something. The thing that makes it an option is the "with Automatic Braking" part. I don't think the LEs and SEs will brake automatically if you get too close to something.

So that's what you're adding for the $35. You get a different computer that talks to the ABS computer to apply the brakes. It's possible that there are some differences in wiring in the main dash harness, but there doesn't appear to be because there are no differences in the dash and floor harness part numbers related to parking sensors and automatic braking. The only part I could find that mentions that system was the clearance warning computer.

Not that it matters that much, but there are a deceptively large number of different sensor combinations on the different Prius trims and options.

(these are all for the US versions)
    All:
    1. 8 ultrasonic sensors in the bumper covers for parking assist (4F/4R)
    2. 1 millimeter wavelength radar sensor in the front grille for Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (a.k.a. adaptive cruise)
    3. 2 rear side radar sensors for Rear Cross Traffic Alert under the rear bumper cover on the sides
    4. 1 rear-facing camera for backing up next to the hatch release button (not the best image quality)
    5. 1 front-facing camera behind the rearview mirror for Lane Keeping Alert/Lane Tracing Assist and for road sign notification

    PHEV
    1. 2 front side radar sensors for Front Cross Traffic Alert under the front bumper cover on the sides
    2. 2 IR cameras on the steering column for Traffic Jam Assist and Driver Monitoring

    Digital Rearview Mirror
    1. 2nd rear-facing camera next to the hatch release button

    Advanced Park
    1. 4 additional ultrasonic sensors to cover the corners (in the bumper covers next to each wheel)

    Panoramic View Monitor
    1. 1 front-facing camera next to the DRCC radar
    2. 2 cameras in the side mirrors with IR lights (1 camera and 1 light in each mirror)
    3. upgraded rear-facing camera for backing up (better image quality)

I think that's all the cameras and sensors, but it wouldn't surprise me if I missed something.

Also you said "LE/SE - without park assist" above, when you meant "without automatic braking".

At the time I wrote that, I was actually making the same mistake as Gokhan. I only got it sorted out in my head later. But I went back and changed it just now to try and reduce confusion.

I still don't know for certain which part number is which. It seems like the computer for automatic brake should be -47160 because that's the one that's standard on the G trim(XLE/XSE), but the description for -47100 specifically mentions parking support and braking.

    47100:
    MXWH60,61..E
    PARKING SUPPORT ALT/BRK-WITH(8SENSOR)
    MXWH65..E,G;MXWH60,61..E
    PARKING SUPPORT ALT/BRK-WITH(8SENSOR & *RCTA)

Well, Corolla has TSS 3.0, but good luck getting parking sensors with it.

I don't think there is such a thing as working parking sensors without automatic braking on newer Toyotas. I am not sure how you would check that but perhaps you could have the sales guy at the dealer help you reverse toward a wall. That way, they would also learn what is going on.

Looking at that, my guess is that the difference there could be what's indicated - RCTA (ie rear radar) or not. The manual suggests the radar-based PKSB for crossing vehicles is optional, on top of the PKSB itself being optional.

The Japanese brochure shows PKSB as standard, but BSM+RCTA+rear pedestrian detection+rear camera cleaning as an option for the U (Kinto) grade. So maybe that 47100 is just for the base Japanese U trim? Given that BSM+RCTA etc seems to be standard everywhere else.

Could it be the case that the hypothetical US LE without PKSB wouldn't have that computer at all? Or would have a different one that doesn't actually exist, given that we've not seen such a car?

It's easy enough to check with the car sitting still. You go into the menu system and look for Intuitive Parking Assist(icon is a big P sending radio waves at a traffic cone to the right) and Parking Support Brake(PKSB - icon is a car with a traffic cone to the right with an impact star symbol between and above them). The menu only shows what's installed on that particular car. If I'm correct about an LE/SE having parking assist(ultrasonic sensors) but not automatic braking when it doesn't have the $35 option on the sticker, then the menu will include Intuitive Parking Assist but not PKSB.

Another look at the manual supports my case. PKSB is listed as (if equipped), while Intuitive Parking Assist does not have that designation.

The thing is, we're now seeing LEs and SEs without the $35 option. Maybe they've always existed and we just never happened to see them. It's not like we were checking every single LE and SE that hit every single dealer. I know I stopped paying attention a long time ago and only checked again the other day because of the discussion going on in this thread. My local dealership has two LEs and one SE coming in, and none of them have the $35 option. And one of the LEs is in the transit phase, which means it's already left the US port facility(est. delivery date of 19 Oct - 7 Nov). It's got a window sticker that confirms the lack of the option.

    https://www.corwintoyota.com/api/legacy/pse/windowsticker/toyota?vin=JTDADABU8T3032809&accountId=corwintoyota&isCPO=false

And then we've got the fact that the US manual for the HEV and PHEV list PKSB as an option, not a standard feature. They have the (if equipped) notation that's given if some trims don't come with the feature. And the Toyota parts system is pretty good about notating when different parts are possible on the same trim level. I'm wondering if the WITH in the description of the 47100 is actually supposed to be WITHOUT. I think that would explain everything(unless I've missed something).

47100 is only listed as a part for:
    US - Some LE/SE
US - Some AWD XLE(another typo?)

Japan uses the 47110, 47160, and 47170. Maybe the 47110 has PKSB but no BSM/RCTA?

However, the specs published by Toyota don’t list two different parking-sensor configurations.

“If equipped” is also said for the spare tire, but good luck finding one. So, that wording in the manual doesn’t mean much.

Let us know what you actually find on the car at the dealer.

Looking at that “if equipped” in the manual, it seems to be put there because PKSB acts differently if there is advanced park or not (also braking for the side objects if advanced park is equipped). Keep in mind that technical writers don’t always do a perfect job.

I bet you will see PKSB is available on that car if the sensors are installed. If the sensors are not installed, that would be a new thing. I don’t give any chance to PKSB not being available with the sensors installed (it would be plain silly by Toyota), but that needs to be verified.

Yeah, that would make it add up, if Japan has that extra type for PKSB without RCTA - the combo not available outside Japan. Misleading part names aren't unknown, I guess, but WITH/WITHOUT confusion would be odd. So:

47100 - 8 sensors, parking assist only (distance display, buzzer) - no PKSB (base LE in USA)
47110 - base PKSB - "static objects front and rear" (base U in Japan)
    47160 - +rear radar, camera cleaner (w/RCTA) - adds "rear-crossing vehicles" and "rear pedestrians" (SE/XSE/XLE/G/Europe non-top trim, base Ltd/XSE+, option for LE/U)
47170 - +4 more sensors, panoramic cameras (w/Advanced Park) - adds "static objects around the vehicle" (Z/Europe top trim, option for U/Ltd/XSE+)

Toyota parts-info system is one place where they virtually never make mistakes.

So, 47100 probably supports PKSB then. What do 47110 and 47160 say? Which site are you getting this info from?

47170 is definitely for PVM/advanced park.

RCTA uses radar and this is sonar; so, they have no relation to each other, lack of one not affecting the other. PVM is part of parking sensors, and it makes sense that they needed a different sonar computer for that option.

And @KMO, you can’t have functioning sonar sensors without this device.

A wild guess: Perhaps 47100 is for the 8” display and 47160 for the 12.3” one.

Again, if there is sonar but no PKSB, I would find that a really silly choice by Toyota. Let us know when you get your hands on the car.

As I said upthread, the build sheet my salesman gave me said my car would have the $35 factory installed option "Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking". Since the preliminary VIN on the sheet didn't jive with the VIN he subsequently provided to me, I thought I'd search a little on decoding the VIN. Results were mixed, lol. The following excerpt came from Welcome to VIN Decoding :: provided by vPIC .

    upload_2025-10-13_6-43-43.png

On a side note, I wonder if ACN and AACN still work if one opts out, or never accepts, the Toyota Connect thing?

On another side note, this site also gives a fair amount of into on a VIN search: VIN Decoder - YotaTech Forums . As I said, mixed results. Mentions trim level but says nothing about parking assist.
