From what I understand there should be no difference between fenders for all 2nd Generation Prius. However when looking at fender fitment I see one part number for years 2004-06 and another for 2007-09. Anyone know what the difference is if any? For example for a drivers side front fender I find part number 53802‑47030 for 2004-06 and part number 53802-47031 for 2007-2009. I would think something changed for the part number to be increased by one digit. Ultimately I am trying to figure out if I can install a 2007-09 drivers side fender on a 2004-06 Prius without issue. Thanks!
Were there mounting hole on the '07-'09 to affix the Hybrid badges that the '04-'06s were not fitted with. That would be the only thing I could think of.
I thought that might be the difference between fenders as well but I have no idea if that is actually the case. Does the 2007-09 fenders have actual holes in them to mount the Hybrid badge unlike my 2006 that just has the Hybrid badge attached with adhesive? If so I can certainly see that as being the only difference between the fenders.
That would seem to be the case. The parts diagram shows the part number for the LH Fender is 53802‑47030 for 08/2003–11/2005 and; 53802-47031 for 11/2006–03/2009. The part detail for 53802-47031 refers to an illustration that seems to then differentiate between them: (The part detail for 53802‑47030 does not specifically refer to the illustration, but the parts diagram does have the same illustration.) ( – 0611) W/O (hole for with hybrid mark); (0611– ) W (hole for with hybrid mark). (This wording is exactly verbatim.) You cannot tell from looking at the diagram whether there are any other cosmetic changes apart from the no holes/holes. Hope that helps. (This information was found on Japan Parts)
Im looking for both front fenders and don't wont the badge holes anyway. mine only has the badge holes on the passenger side. I found them for $65 each from AZ, but the shipping. I was going to pull the trigger, bite the bullet and purchase them but whopper $650 bucks with shipping from AZ to new orleans. That made it a no go for me with my bankroll. That's 20ish percent of what I paid for the car.I recently bought a seaside pearl 2g and have been My YouTube videos are at channel youtube.com/@2Gprius NOT that I have any idea what I'm doing.
I can't speak for the fenders themselves, but it has been observed that generic replacement wheel well liners for the front don't quite fit on the 2007 and up. Instead of fitting nicely on the metal all the way around there are chords (like in geometry) where they have to take shortcuts through open air so that the fasteners will go in. Possibly because they are sized for the ever so slightly smaller 2004-2006 fenders? Also possibly because like so many other aftermarket parts these days, they are not very good.
For sure the aftermarket parts suck compared to the orginals. I ordered aftermarket bumper brackets and may try to take the current fenders off to pop the dents out. My inside fender lining is missing on the right front and damaged on the front left. The only prius at my local is a 08 darker blue metalic with dark grey interior. I wonder if it would matter to just pull the liners out and spray it with an undercoating? There is a big metal can on the front left for something no idea what, the liner might protect that. Seaside might be an unpopular color as parts are hard to find local.
