I am the original owner of a 2017 Prius Prime advanced. Been charging pretty much since day 1 and have NEVER had a problem.

All of a sudden, it's not charging anymore. I plug in the charger, the little light near the charger turns green for about 5 seconds or so, then it starts flashing for about 10 seconds and then shuts off. No charger ever starts on the car. The 3 blue dots never start blinking. When I open the door the Display reads "Charging Port Lid Open". Usually it would show the battery with how much time left for a full charge. When I unplug the charger and then start the car the display reads "Charging Stopped" as if the car was actually charging and I unplugged it prior to finishing. But no charging actually took place.

I searched all over the internet for options. I tried disconnecting the 12v battery. I tried locating the ECU fuses, but there seem to be tons of them labeled as such, so not sure which one could be the culprit (if any). I've also tried 4 different chargers, so it's not my charger as none have worked, and yet all work on other EVs. So it is 100% the car having the issue.

I took it in to Toyota and they charged up the 12v to ensure that wasn't it, checked my charging schedules (which I know it wasn't as i've had the car for 8 years know how that works). They said next step is to send it in for diagnostics at $225 an hour in "hopes" to find something. No idea what the part could be and will most likely be thousands of dollars.

Any other tips, tricks I can do on my own. I am not giving it back to Toyota and spending that money. I'll just not plug it in anymore, but it sucks because I have solar at home, my own charging stations and I typically only need to fill my tank 3/4 times a year b/c most of my driving is done on EV.

    Anyone have any other ideas???

no trouble lights? have you tried L1 and L2? look closely at the pins in the charge port for corrosion, looseness or a bent one. i would try another dealer

Yes to all of that. No trouble lights at all and nothing came up at the dealer when they tried to read any error codes.

Funny you mention about another dealer, before I went to the one that I bought my car from, I stopped in another one to ask some questions and they said they would have to diagnose as well. Don't feel like spending $600 only to find out I need to replace a $2000 part. It is such a strange problem, but no one else seems to have had this exact issue. I'm sure it's something so stupid but can't get it solved and it's so frustrating
