and of course looking to tag into any existing supply.
So, got mirror surround access door off, surround off, I see 1 harness that branches 1 time.
The main harness goes into a box that looks expensive, maybe 14 wires, maybe 4 large.
The branch adapts to what looks like an antenna.

I see (online) how to also remove overhead console, 'chandelier' easily?

I'm a pretty good tech.... where can I tag off 2 amps of 5 volts (switched) or 12 v, not too close to big $.

    THX!

It won't be the same in your car, but you might be able to follow the idea I used for mine.

The bottom line is that if you buy a short subscription to the official repair manual and interactive wiring diagram, you can get some very good information that makes this installation pretty easy.

I did that six years ago and the system is still functioning flawlessly.

    Good luck!

View attachment 285087 View attachment 285087 View attachment 285088 View attachment 285087 View attachment 285088 I bought the Toyota dashy cam. Works well and does what I need. Have not needed it yet (knock on wood) but I captured a few times when someone cut me off and had there been an accident i could prove they would have been at fault.

I attached the instructions, tells you everything you need to know regarding disassembly, mounting and where to get power. The instructions mention a template/ service tool - very much needed to align the camera for a clear view out the windshield. The TSS Cover will be visible in most locations if you don't place it where it says to, I tried. This leaves the camera somewhat lo on the windshield but it doesn't impact visibility too bad. The worse thing is that on the 5th gen Prius, the camera must go on the passenger side, due to the rain sensor mounted to the drivers side. I 3D printed the Toyota service tool based on the template. I would be happy to share the file should anyone want to install this camera.

    Cheers,

For what it's worth, you can order a replacement adhesive panel if you make a mistake or end up not liking the placement after a time. I had to pay the full $35 the first time because I didn't know the part number and had to order through my local dealer. But you can get it for as low as $18 from the right dealer during a sale.
