whats the most affordable code reader that i can buy to get all the codes. i think i have a bad invertor pump. i have a cheap bluetooth one.
VXDIAG VCX NANO - OBD2 interface (85$) Win 10 or higher laptop Toyota Techstream software This will read ALL codes like SRS and ABS etc. and a lot of other functions like ABS bleeding, key programming etc
The Autel AP200 is my recommendation. It can communicate with all 18 or so ECUs in a Gen 3 Prius. What that means is that it is capable of reading all the trouble codes, not just some of them. It can do most things that the Toyota Techstream software can do. The price right now on Amazon is $49.99 + tax. I own this model, and I also have Techstream. I used Thinkdiag Mini to read all the systems and codes plus it can stream life data to my phone which was very instrumental in diagnosing a faulty speed sensor that turned my dash into a Christmas tree. Later I also got Thinkdiag with service functions (which requires subscription after first year), but I can do most of the services that pros do like programming key fobs or ABS bleed to flush braking system. I will renew subscription when any bi-directional service function is needed, but for general scanning Thinkdiag Mini was the best for all modules scanning and data streaming.
