40f is excellent. This system protects itself from freezing the evaporator. This isn't your father's car ac!

After fifteen minutes or less you normally need to turn down the fan.

The ac repair manual is 400 pages long. Here's a taste:

Guess I was fortunate. Thank you again to everyone. The tools I bought will collect dust but maybe I’ll get to charge another vehicle before r134A is completely phased out. If someone needs a vacuum pump, gauge manifold, oil injector, message me. I’ll sell at 50% the original cost.

Don't rent from O'Reilly's as they only give a you a few days to return anything before you end up forfeiting the full price for things that others have already used, whether you wanted to or not. I almost got caught out until I saw the terms on my receipt and managed to returm them on time.

Autozone and Advance Autos have a better policy where you can rent for much longer before being penalized.

Well, that is good news but I hope that R134A doesn't cause issues with the compressor later on. There must be a reason for that warning.

Are you basing this warning on this website listing only? It is wrong.

Gen3 uses R134A, so this seems misinformed by autozone galore. It’s the AC oil that’s relevant for these models gen2 and gen3, it needs to be ND-11 (expensive) or a POE 80 (POE 100 not preferred since different viscosity than ND11)….

The best r134a for a gen3 top off is usually the cheapest can without any oil, dye or sealant.

    Good advice here
    Refrigerant Replacement | Page 6 | PriusChat

For best performance without repairing the leak, vacuum, purge gauge hoses with refrigerant and weigh in the refrigerant. If not weighing in, its best to slightly undercharge based on the sight glass.

Today's self sealing cans need a hose that does not pierce the can. Throw grandpas piercing hose away.

Always avoid any additives and add dye yourself if needed, it’s very cheap. Straight up R134a is the best but if you have replaced any components that can hold oil, add some Edgar Allan Poe80.

@rjparker it seems you are not commenting on why autoZ would not recommend this can for electrical compressors? Please enlighten me.

Additives beyond pure R134a has to be the answer. All recent hydrids and most cars since ~2017 don't use R134a.

With that said, trusting anything Autozone, their code scanners or employees say is foolish. But in this case the customer could be foolish if they ignore the warning.

It is always best to use what the maker of the item is, tells you what to use.
    They designed it....
