Tried to find a definitive answer and coming up empty. What is the voltage of the HV battery pack when it is fully charged from the external plug? If you have Dr. Prius app, it would be noted in the upper left hand corner.
Yo Eric! Long time no chat! If my memory serves me right, the pack voltage usually ranges from about 200–224V. I don’t remember ever seeing anything higher than that, but I could be wrong. Best, Jack
Jack. The man, the legend! I should catch up with you sometime. So many life changes. New family members. And New Priuses. Like this 2006 Barcelona red one with only 5,000 miles on it that I'll be selling soon. You should buy it from me for your battery longevity tests! Lowest mile Gen 2 Prius. 5,156 miles. Back on the road after sitting 12 years. | Page 5 | PriusChat Thanks for the voltage info. Doing some experiments with a PIP and want to try a non -oem external charger with it.
I thought there was a chance they used a higher voltage pack and added some voltage spoofing like has been developed in other aftermarket systems, but seems like Jack is confirming they didn't do that.
Yeah... but Lithium is super easy to overcharge and isn't forgiving at all like NiMH so be careful! Of course Jack sells replacement packs with near double the range if you do forget you were charging it after its too late: 2012 - 2015 Toyota Prius plug-in Lithium battery pack
