Can't wait to see one but disappointed Toyota is dropping the purely ICE models...give us OPTIONS, Toyota!

I laugh at the phrase, "Purely Hybrid"....isn't that an oxymoron like "jumbo shrimp" or "Government Efficiency" or "Army Intelligence"... (no disrespect to you grunts, you know we zoomies love ya!!) ;-)

It won't happen with the current generation, as they didn't change the platform and it is not a hatchback with space for a PHEV battery in the trunk. By the next generation, which will debut as a 2031 model year, you might want to go with a BEV instead.

It's possible to have a Camry Prime. If they can fit a 13.6 kWh battery under the rear seat of a Prius and call it a Prime, why not? The current (8th generation) Camry is 2 inches wider, 11 inches longer and has an almost 3 inch longer wheelbase than the Prius. They even already have the SE and XSE trims (yeah I know they are just sticking bigger wheels on the new Camry and call that the SE and XSE trims). It may be just a matter of how much they want it to weigh. Might even be able to keep the AWD although I'd assume the current spare would be sacrificed.

Eh, that isn't a station wagon. It's in that uncanny valley of not-SUV, not-station-wagon. Hard pass.

I was talking with my wife and Dad today, and we all decided that when our current cars go south forever, we're going back to classic cars. Modern cars are too expensive. And we don't want any of the current pedestrian-crushing, bloated-egos on wheels that they sell as vehicles these days.

At this point Gen1 and Gen2 Prius are becoming legally defined as classic cars in many states.

That's ok. But I have a Gen 2 that I'm getting rid of because it's way too expensive to fix.

On the contrary, I can spend way less money on rebuilding an air-cooled VW built before 1980, although I do have some 1990's vehicles in mind as alternative options.

If I had the money, a new Camry would be on the table for me. But I'm not buying neither a $30,000 new Camry, nor a $30,000 and up used Camry with 200,000 miles on it, especially when a set of brand-new pistons and cylinders for a 1600cc VW engine cost $200.

Getting parts for really old VW is not as easy as it used to be... My point is every decade there's going to be a specific vehicle that is not just affordable, but has abundant spare parts and are relatively easy to fix. Currently Gen2 Prius is that car for me. The cost of repairing other newer cars is way more expensive. So if you can't afford to repair your Prius, maybe get an electric bicycle instead?

    My Prius:
    • $3,000 to $5,000 new or used engine
    • $1,500 to $5,000 new HV battery
    • $2,000 California compliant catalytic converter
    • $? Water pump
    • $? Dash stopped working
    • $? Windshield needs replaced
    • $? Front wheel bearing
    • $? Lots of electrical codes that I just can't keep up with as every one I fix two more pop up.
    • $? Taillight housing
    • $? Liftgate handle
    With a VW Beetle:
    • $200 Brand-new pistons and cylinders
    • $1,200 Brand-new magnesium engine case
    • etc.
    • etc.
    • etc.
But, to be honest, I really don't have the time for fixing either. I once had a 1972 VW Beetle engine taken apart and spread all over my living room floor. I never needed a new engine case, just machining and some new pistons and cylinders for cheap. I eventually got it put together again. I'm not sure I have the time to do that again.

But the Prius needs both time and money. I just don't know where to start, and when I do I usually find two more things wrong with it.

I've had a really hard time getting parts locally. It seems every time I go to get parts for my Prius I end up getting scammed or show up for parts that were already sold to someone else.

I'd love to get the Prius up and running, but I just don't know where to get the parts for it. I don't want to buy another engine that's in worse shape than this one with its destroyed cylinders.

The Crown is larger than the Camry. I think the Crown Signia replaced the Venza.

It's based on a sedan Toyota calls a crossover that they call an estate back home. It's the closest we'll get to a wagon in the US.

The Crown has less cabin and trunk volume than the Camry.

Yeah, Rocky mountains aren't a place where Prius are abundant... But on the west coast, Gen2 are fast becoming the most commonly abandoned car found on properties that are changing hands and I'm super excited about the list of vehicles coming into my life that fit this description.

sister in law has a one year old '25 Camry. 12 volt died overnight. I'm sure the low temps contributed, but I hope there isn't a software issue like the Prius.
dealer told her to jump it and drive for a 1/2 hour
