cataract surgery 9:30 AM , now 4:40 PM Laser variant breaks up the old lense Pretty light ahow Very quick procedure, less than 10 min About an hour prep: Chill the patient to the verge of shivering (thermal underwear advised) Bring homemade medical card so you won’t have to mispronounce meds with too many consulates and the same old, boring questions. Modern pain control is awesome!!! Wish they’d given me a Pirate’s eye patch. When is speak like a Pirate day? AARRGG. Bob Wilson
Is the chilling the patient a part of the procedure? And, if so, would thermal underwear just make it take longer?
I just had my second eye done a couple of months ago, but with a blade. Do you have a weight limit for the next month? Do you need to apply drops to your eye four times a day? I'm not complaining; my result was good both times, but I the prohibitions on picking things up for a month were irksome. I'd be curious about your lens choice, if that's anything you'd want to write about.
I’ve had both eyes done. Then they developed some kind of coating or scarring or something, I forget exactly. But they blast that off with a yag laser and everything has been great since. All the best Bob!
I wanted to share what I’ve learned to show how much better practices have become. As for me: Right eye dominant - I recently fired 30 rounds all hits, iron sights, into a feral hog target at 200 yards with more than half in the heart-lung center. Crescent moon motivation - I notice two crescent moon images as if they were spooning. At the next charging station and no window glass, the right eye saw two sharp spooning images. The left had three larger less distinct and a smear between the two. I had a cataracts diagnosis for the past four years but not enough to require treatment. But the spooning moons was new. So if this thread does any good it will reduce trepidation about cataracts treatment. Hopefully share my threshold symptoms. Bob Wilson
This was an effect of your astigmatism? My primary complaint was a cloudiness that made looking toward light untenable, but I mentioned seeing a couple of ghost images a few degrees apart and was told it was because of the kind of cataract I had. That eye has a pronounced astigmatism as well. I won't pepper you with more questions. I do find the process interesting, and know from the experiences of my older partners that people have all sorts of different experiences with it.
