Here I am wearing my NexPowerEnergy shirt and hat. I wanted to let you know of this impressive 12-volt battery for sale at SaltyHybrid.com. It costs $175 and allows you to control the battery management system for it with a phone app: http://www.saltyhybrid.com/collections/all-products/products/the-ultimate-12v-battery

This would be ideal for those who use their Prius to power their home during a power outage because it will give you valuable data about how your system is functioning, as well as allow you to change charge settings/thresholds.

This battery is also ideal if you live in super extreme cold weather and extreme hot weather because sodium battery chemistry is superior to standard 12v chemistry in extreme temperatures.

Another valuable feature is it has a power button, which is ideal for people who plan to put their car in storage for long periods of time.

This product is being sold at near cost by Nexpower, so its not a major moneymaker for them, but an ideal way to compliment the value you gain when you install a salty hybrid pack.

I got to install the salty GT version for my first time this weekend. Very impressed with the many design improvements and material quality upgrades of this GT pack. Of course, GT V2 is the new one that's currently available with a significantly higher capacity and GT V3 with even more improvements will be available next January.

I took that picture of PriusCamper just before I bought the salty 12v battery to install in my 2007 Honda Civic hybrid. I am pretty excited about the idea that I won't be running into 12v startup problems with the Civic once I get this installed. I will post some pics. I know... it's a honda, but hey, it's a hybrid that is getting a cool upgrade. I look forward to installing the battery app so that I can actually keep an eye on the battery condition, make changes to optimize for my vehicle and all the other things this app can do. Big Thank You to PriusCamper for all the help with keeping my hybrids running!

Nifty! Sound like a good idea.
Guess there's an update to the Dr. Prius app for the 12v battery?
I replaced mine in May 2022... But I might get one, just because...

I seem to have this exact same battery from an ebay seller. Is there anyway to disable the light from always being on? Once I press the power off button it switches to 3v mode. Which I think is good when being away for like a month to save from high self discharge. But you would have to use door key to enter the car. Also can anyone test the voltage at rest? I'm getting 16.8v which is very unusual if nominal is 13.2v for sodium ion.

I will probably get Jack's Sodium ion traction batteries soon once my existing Toyota modules starts to show it's wear. So far it's still doing fine. All these years with the nickle plated bus bars too.

I doubt you have the "same" battery, from ebay.
    What light?
When do you get 16.8 volts?

Are you putting this is a Prius? (n)

Hi @PriusV17, very interesting, can you send me the link to the eBay listing?

Our 12v battery use the famous/expensive/reliable JK BMS that allow user to monitor and update configuration to the battery. The resting voltage is adjustable and the default setting is at 13.2v. FYI.

This seller is not showing consistent information. That's why I didn't install it yet. But the 12v battery looks identical and the app looks identical. Attached are the screenshot of my specs from that app and the links to the seller.

Specs look the same are yours Jack. But he is calling it LiFePO4 but it looks like Sodium Ion specs. Same exact looking battery just different sticker. Same app.

Don't put that in your Prius. It's not designed for it.
It could be a very costly mistake!

Get the Sodium 12v battery from Jack.
And the Sodium Hybrid Battery too.

I retested again with a different tester. And now it looks normal. Could have been a fluke with my first tester. Notice the icon on left side of first tester. Probably an error with tester.

Jack, hope all is good with you. It's been years since we met. Still flying RC's? I've been flying night drones a lot recently. I will get back into RC's in the future. I have an F-14 Tomcat waiting to fly :)

Why would a 13.01 volt battery fry the electrical system??? Please explain why it would.

The Prius DC to DC converter outputs 14.1 volts when charging the 12v battery, and it does not fry the 12v electrical system!

Yes, this is because NexPowerEnergy is tired of dealing with DIY buyers who are constantly doing dumb stuff on install and blowing up their customer service costs and have mostly switched to selling pallets of packs (24 packs per pallet) to vendors like HybridGeek, GreenBean and ther certified installers so the vendors and installers can eliminate all the dumb mistakes that DIY installers make. So the answer is yes, these are the same products, but at a higher price than what you can buy at: http://www.saltyhybrid.com
