    Hi all!

Unfortunately, when it rains it pours. Both of our Gen 2 Priuses developed red triangles of death in the past week.

This thread is about a 2006 Gen 2 (I'm hoping to get one of them up and running before worrying about the second).

About 10 days ago, my wife was pulling away from our house when the red triangle, VSC light and warning light came up.

I've had 12 V batteries cause all sorts of issues before. I checked the voltage using the MFD and it was a little low (10.8 V or so). I pulled the battery and I've had it charging on a trickle charger for four days until reading charged and put it back in this morning. Now reads 12.1 V at the MFD in ready mode. (I should really buy a new battery, but haven't had any time and the other car is dead too...)

Unfortunately, after clearing the codes, the triangle etc. came back after a drive around the block.

I pulled the codes using an Autel AP200 giving:

    C1259
    C1310
    P0A80
    P3000
    P3021

The freeze frames are attached. It shows block 11 at 14.85 V. Dr Prius confirms this block is running approximately 2 V low.

The inverter pump seems to be running (I see swirling coolant and the rubber tube to it is vibrating to the touch). The HV battery fan is running.

I should also mention that when I pulled the 12 V battery, there was an inch or so of standing water in the battery compartment (we had heavy rain). I popped out the drain plugs and silicone sealed some cracks in the paint along the hatchback.

My sense is that block 11 is bad and needs replacing. I'm a little worried that water might have gotten in, so I'm thinking I should just replace the whole battery. Ordinarily, I'd have a poke around to look for corrosion, but we have a 4 week-old baby and very little free time at the moment...

For buying and installing hybrid batteries, The Hybrid Geek seems well reviewed and will come to us to do the replacement.

    So:

    1. Does bad block 11 seem like a reasonable diagnosis? Anything else I should check out?
    2. Any recommendations for getting a battery installed? We're in the Albany, NY area.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

The freeze frame data you posted would be from the P0A80 code, not from the C1310 code. Please post all the freeze frame data, not just some of the data.

From the partial freeze frame data that posted, I agree that one or both of the hybrid battery modules that make up block #11 is/are bad.

Or the voltage reading is off because there is corrosion somewhere along the path from the module to or in the ECU. Easy enough to tell which once the pack is open.

Ah, thank you for having a look! I've added the freeze frames for all of the codes that have them. I also spotted a new P3021 code, so added that too.
