Anyone tried to have one of these smart cards programmed for the gen5 prius (prime) yet? Inspired from Lexus Credit Card Smart Key | PriusChat The 2024 Tacoma higher trims get two normal key fobs a credit card sized key fob Haven't figured out the part number yet though tacoma4g forum has a thread with pictures /card-key-style-keyfob-for-2024-tacoma-first-look.1990/ definitely FCC ID HYQ14CBP Oddly enough, as far as I can tell the normal key fobs for the Tacomas are HYQ14FBX, which are the same FCC ID for my Prius Prime key. Maybe there's a chance that CBP is compatible with FBX?
Hmmm. Tempting. Can't see why it shouldn't work. Need to be programmed at a dealer, of course, or someone with the top-level TechStream subscription that includes key programming. Looks like part number 8990H-A1010. Found it for $223.59 online($322.92 MSRP). Transmitter Sub-Assy, Smart Key Supply edit: I shot off an email to a parts department. If I get a reply, I'll post an update. Got a quick reply. The dealership says it only works with Tacomas. I don't know if I 100% believe them, but I'm not sure I want to spend $225 to test it. If a person wants to test it for "cheap", they could try a used unlocked Lexus HYQ14CBP off ebay. Cheapest ones seem to be running $65-$70.
The part number helps a lot, thank you! I'll wait for the next 25% off sale at toyota autoparts and give it a try.
Here it is on ebay for $135. I think the guy from tacoma forum is selling his. Same pic of key fob with credit card. I like that shape much more than the key fob. I also like not having to unlock my iPhone to get into my car every time when my hands are full.
So I'm 99% sure this will work. I've purchased a smart card key and I've done the research but I'm still looking for someone who doesn't charge $250 to program it. Really hoping for something around $100 Here's the research: https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/info-smart-key-card-on-the-avalon.1623584/ poster notes that it is important for the ECU FCCID to match makes sense to me https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/granteecode I go to my prius manual https://assets.sia.toyota.com/publications/en/om-s/OM47F48U/pdf/OM47F48U.pdf jump to page 669 for the ECU FCC ID: NI4TMLF19D-3 also 671 for the fob FCC ID:HYQ23ABN FCC ID:HYQ14FBX I pull up a tacoma manual https://assets.sia.toyota.com/publications/en/om-s/OM04011U/pdf/OM04011U.pdf jump to page 689 for ECU FCC ID: NI4TMLF19D-3 sweet it matches fob FCC ID:HYQ23ABN FCC ID:HYQ14FBX FCC ID:HYQ14CBP matching FCCID Additional confirmation ah yep, for the lexus, nice Lexus RX500 manual https://assets.sia.toyota.com/publications/en/om-s/OM0E218U/pdf/OM0E218U.pdf page 636 FCC ID: NI4TMLF19D-2 prefix matched, suffix doesn't seem to matter So if anyone knows a locksmith in the bay area that won't charge me the price of a michelin star dinner just point me in that direction and I'll go find out
