Just got my oil change for my 2016 Prius 150000 miles. Dealer says the following items are required at this mileage…… Drain and fill engine coolant Drain and fill hybrid inverter Transmission fluid service Brake fluid service Replace spark plugs Are these required maintenance services at this mileage?
Engine and hybrid coolants should be drained and filled at 100k miles and every 50k miles thereafter. Changing the Transmission fluid (ATF) is a good idea. I suggest a first drain/refill at 30k miles and then at 90k miles and every 90k miles thereafter. Brake fluid does absorb water over time and there are test strips to check the water content. Irridium spark plugs are good for 120k miles so it is time. You might also consider replacing the PCV at this time. Your dealer is being reasonable as long as prices are OK JeffD
The Toyota USA publication Warranty and Maintenance stops at 12 years or 120k miles, and is a clumsy, event-by-event format. I’ve transcribed it to table format, and extrapolated to 24 years or 240k miles, in attached. going through your list, comments in red, guesstimates in green: Drain and fill engine coolant $150 Drain and fill hybrid inverter coolant $125 Transmission fluid service presumably drain and fill $100 Brake fluid service presumably replacement $150 Replace spark plugs $200 Are these required maintenance services at this mileage? ^ have the plugs ever been changed? If not then yes, they’re overdue, should have been done by miles at 120k. Unless you’re CARB state, where it’s 150k. coolants are both due, by miles. transaxle and brake fluid are not mentioned by Toyota USA, but worthwhile.
