Can I replace 1st generation battery cells with 2nd generation battery cells?

It would be even more precise to say module 37.

Cell 37 would be, I think, be found at one end of module 7.

Just to comment that the Gen 1 NHW11 has 19 "blocks" meaning 38 modules, not the 14 blocks and 28 modules which you mention which applies to the Gen 2 Prius.

 

Thank you for correcting that. I had both gen 1 and gen 2 in mind because the thread mentioned both, but it's in the gen 1 forum, so I should've used the gen 1 numbers.

 

Congratulations on your temporary HV battery repair! I can see why you wisely placed the longer replacement Gen 2/3 module at the end as that minimised the deformation of the bus bar. If you have any more original modules fail then you may be interested to know that I have kept several of the Gen 1 modules from my brother's repaired Prius, including 4 replacement modules bought from ebay that were manufactured in December 2010 which as I said in my post I think must be from a later Toyota manufactured factory replacement spare HV battery and appear to be in very good condition. I keep them regularly charged, I last charged the 4 2010 modules several weeks ago and they are all reading 7.78V at the moment. So if you should ever need some Gen 1 module replacements let me know.

Wasn't the ice color available for the whole run of the car? looking at when what colors were available I'd expect golden, Blue Moon and black to be rare. Aqua ice was available the whole time.
