One problem with self-driving is that it is less proactive in other people’s driving than manual driving. I am usually not worried about my driving but others’. I could take better evasive action while driving manually if I notice another car driving dangerously. If everyone had self-driving cars, it would be great, but when you are the only one with them, they hardly improve your safety.

I have the older, HW V3.0 version, and pretty much have the same with a few rough edges that can be worked around. The Tesla has become my preferred daily driver.

There is a WamBam Teslacam YouTube channel that shows those events and the more frequent saves. Cases when the car reacts to avoid an accident and the driver only finds out about the close call from their video. The most common being the Tesla stopped in traffic and the following human driver hitting the Tesla in the rear.

Tesla or no, that's often the case with an accident, where - like us on the freeway & drivers screeching to a halt for construction ahead (Google maps showing the incident before we got there) the clueless guy behind us smacked the rear of our plug-in minivan. Airbags fortunately didn't go off but the impact of padded headrests smacking us in the back of our heads kind of temporarily knocked us silly. Fortunately we stopped with enough distance in front of us that the rear ending impact didn't drive us into the car in front of us.
