I've owned my 2019 Prius Limited now for about 2 weeks. Hadn't an issue until after I went through a car wash today. Dashboard lit up, check engine light, yellow triangle, multiple system warnings to contact the dealership, all while I'm going 70 down the highway. When I stopped at auto parts store for a code reader, it only came back with one trouble code, for a left wheel sensor. I guess all the other things that popped up were downstream from this error. Does this mean I can no longer do drive-thru car washes, or could it just be a coincidence? By the way, the place I bought the car from is going to replace the sensor. They gave me a 30-day warranty on the whole car. Thanks everyone.
Look for rodent chew marks on the wiring harness. The car driving through puddles, in the rain is equivalent to a car wash. If it happens again; I would follow the sensor wire up into the main harness. The bare wires probably shorted to ground and/or signal was intermittent.
You might want to check the health of your 12V battery, as mentioned in your other thread. Car washes are notorious for putting strain on the 12V system as your car is dragged through in neutral (no 12V charging). The result is usually a plethora of odd trouble codes.
I didn't bother to mention a low battery issue, because your traveling down the highway while this happened. The DC-DC converter is powering your 12V system, whenever it's in "ready". I'm pretty sure you only lose traction battery regeneration charging, in neutral. If the DC-DC converter wasn't working, you'd get a warning in your MID - "12V low" and your car may not start.
Also mentioned above, but just to emphasize it: you have codes that mention the front LH speed sensor circuit. That tells you the skid ECU thinks that whatever signals are arriving over the wires from the front LH speed sensor are bogus. It doesn't tell you whether the problem is with the sensor or the wiring. So if the seller is going to do some work on the issue, they should really find out what's causing the issue and fix that, and not just replace the sensor because the code said something about a sensor. If they just replace the sensor and the issue persists, then they'll be like "hey, we already put a new sensor in for you!" and you'll be like "hey, that didn't fix the problem!" and you'll both be unnecessarily mad at each other.
I am going to request that they inspect the wiring as far as they can follow it back. We've had so much rain lately that I haven't yet returned. Not sure if any of y'all are familiar with Prius World of Austin. I bought my first gen 2 from Mike about 10 years ago, and I also bought my Gen 4 from them. Mike is an honest businessman, in my opinion. A couple of years ago when my Gen 2 had a collision with a deer, the mechanical linkage from the throttle body was jammed up (I did not know this). I only know that the engine seem to be relying heavily on the traction battery to the point I thought it was failing. I went to Mike, the owner, with the intent on buying a reconditioned HV battery. After listening to my description of the symptoms, he found the jammed throttle body, and pulled one out of a scrap Gen 2. Instantly resolved the issue. He could have remained quiet and just sold me a battery, but he saved me $1,000. I'll ask him for his experience.. thank you for mentioning this..
