As part of the restoration of my my new 2008, I had to replace the MFD because my original had a burnt screen.
So I received my new one and I noticed recently that at random times on start up the clock loses time. Meaning, after I start it up I notice the clock has lost and hour, sometimes two. Well today, aside from losing a chunk of time, 4 hours and minutes, my screen that shows the tank avg mpgs and mileage also reset to 0.
When you combine that with my fuel gauge not working, this is becoming a real hoot to drive.
Thankfully I use fuelio and can "guess" how many miles I can go between fill ups.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? In the meantime I'm going to start taking my old screen apart to see if I can switch screens. Any help is appreciated.

These are signs that the 12 V power supply is being interrupted somewhere along the way from the battery in the back. Checking that the terminals and clamps are clean and securely fastened to the battery is a good step. Make sure to back the terminal nuts right off and pry the clamp open so it sits at the bottom of the ledge of the terminal post. Pay particular attention to make sure you do not lever the terminal clamps up when tightening. I find using a socket or a closed wrench helps with this. Also, check that the negative battery cable at the end where it connects to the car is also clean and tight.

You beat me to the punch .. lol
    Thank you
I am going to check all connections tonight, but it may be the 12v battery itself, this morning I woke up to my radio stations wiped out. It's a funny little car, really sensitive to power and ground state changes ..
I managed to capture this screenshot from Dr Prius last night as well which pointed me in that direction.
