As part of the restoration of my my new 2008, I had to replace the MFD because my original had a burnt screen.
So I received my new one and I noticed recently that at random times on start up the clock loses time. Meaning, after I start it up I notice the clock has lost and hour, sometimes two. Well today, aside from losing a chunk of time, 4 hours and minutes, my screen that shows the tank avg mpgs and mileage also reset to 0.
When you combine that with my fuel gauge not working, this is becoming a real hoot to drive.
Thankfully I use fuelio and can "guess" how many miles I can go between fill ups.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? In the meantime I'm going to start taking my old screen apart to see if I can switch screens. Any help is appreciated.

These are signs that the 12 V power supply is being interrupted somewhere along the way from the battery in the back. Checking that the terminals and clamps are clean and securely fastened to the battery is a good step. Make sure to back the terminal nuts right off and pry the clamp open so it sits right down on the terminal post's ledge. Pay particular attention to make sure you do not lever the terminal clamps up when tightening. I find using a socket or a closed wrench helps with this. Also, check that the negative battery cable at the end where it connects to the car is also clean and tight.

You beat me to the punch .. lol
    Thank you
I am going to check all connections tonight, but it may be the 12v battery itself, this morning I woke up to my radio stations wiped out. It's a funny little car, really sensitive to power and ground state changes ..
I managed to capture this screenshot from Dr Prius last night as well which pointed me in that direction.

Yep, with a 2008, I'd check all grounds on the 12-volt side. Did it spend any time up in rustyland? My Dad had an F-150 up in Maine in the 80's-90's and started having tons of electrical gremlins from the salty roads rusting out everything. (Ended up just junking it, we found brake fluid starting to leak and were all rusted out...NOT good!)

No this is a Florida car, that being said, there is suspicious "rust" inside the car specifically in the trunk area. My guess is a bad hatch gasket. It is cracked in several places, but I have also had the battery out of the car several times. So I could have caused this, however, it could be the beginning of a failing battery. The good news is I have a good Optima Red top AGM, in a car that I do not drive regularly, so I am going to swap them out and bench charge the Prius battery to help give it a boost.

    I'll keep you all posted.
    Thanks
