I attempted to update the head unit/no navigation as it was on 2.x to 5.5? using 01039-HBEKR-16A. I was attempting to see if an update would fix my spotty slow bluetooth. That backfired.

And its stuck...fails on step 3 and loops telling me cannot start mmc driver unplug to reset. But by the looks of it, it completely wiped what it had already on there. Like as of now currently it only has radio/cd with it stuck in software update mode.

I have already tried disconnecting the battery, but I am guessing its already written to something permanently, so it won't stop until its finished. How boned am I? I've seen threads on this but all of them were pretty old and not much was solved other than attempting to use different USB sticks. I have like 5 different ones I've tried of various sizes, small 8GB/32GB, different brands sandisk etc., Yes I tried all the different usb format options, the only thing on them is the .iso but No luck....

After some further testing it looks like it failed to update the EXT_BOX the Harman/Becker86100-YY050. I am guessing its dead since it wont accept the update but what is odd is in checks menu it says its OK. It must have been on its way out before I attempted the update and this just pushed it over. It looks like there are multiple threads after searching so it almost sounds like it's a known point of failure.

You can bypass the EXT_BOX completely and connect the USB power directly to the Panasonic JBL head unit, but I lost Bluetooth and phone connectivity. The interface shows it's there and my phone sees it broadcasting but I can't get it to pair as there is no pairing option in the settings menu.

Why the heck is this info not stickied? Would have been pretty useful information to know.

Also if anyone needs any of the previous updates you can find them by modifying the URL on Toyota's website with the update name+.zip It seems like they still have a lot of the older updates out there but you can't do the search by year/model since it only goes back to 2016.

Firmware links since I couldn't find them anywhere, my logic was I would be able to put an older version on, and it might fix it but it rejects any updates.
