Would love to know how one removes the coolant reservoir cap. A tab sticking down into a slot in the tank collar prevents cap from rotating. I've tried pushing and pulling to no avail. I'm sure it's something simple but I can't figure it out!

most reservoir caps you just have to pull up to pop open.

Is it different from the cap on a 3rd-generation (on which you merely have to turn it counterclockwise forcefully enough to overcome the detent it has at its fully-closed position)?

Which coolant reservoir are you referring to, the ICE or the Inverter? On my 2022 the ICE is like the radiator caps of old (push down and turn at the same time), the Inverter seems to click into place, so you need to overcome the resistance to the tab when you turn it (no need to press down on that one). Both, of course are “righty tights, lefty lousy).

Never looked under the hood of a Prius V. No clue. Maybe their forum section would help?

Old post, but hope to help somebody. My dangling tit/tab/knob on the bottom rim of my cap has been turned beyond the detent in the reservoir ?overflow port? (black rubber capped port) and feels too brittle to pass back to its normal travel circumference. I'm going to clip the tab a bit at a time and see if the cap will stay in place or if I need to buy a new cap. It seems the best course of action in this Florida heated 16 year old reservoir. I'm lucky I haven't cracked the reservoir with the battle so far. I don't know who the culprit was, but when I find them!!!
Seriously don't think it was me, but seriously could've been. Mine: upload_2026-6-12_14-18-4.jpeg
