I've researched(mostly posts from this forum) and am struggling to get the control arms off.
I am reading that i need to jack the motor up slightly to get the passengers side off but have been struggling with the drivers side for a day now. Does anyone have any advice here? I have 3 jacks and 2 jack stands but safety is my top priority, I also don't want to damage the engine or mounts, should I remove any mounts as im jacking it up?

I am using the main center jack point in the front and have my tires/rims just behind the front wheel well to catch the car if anything should happen, i've currently got my jack stands under the front subframe, is there a more ideal place to put these as i jack the motor up?

@James Analytic mentioned this video and am going to try this method with a backup plan to just chop it off(hoping to avoid doing this as i want to rebuild the control arms to sell online after swapping them with my remans.

One other area of concern is the second bolt on the right side it seems to need a deep well socket but there isn't much clearance. Do I need to jack the car up on this side? PLEASE help me i'm exhausted.

These 3 videos have helped me the most,

So my ball joints were stuck in my knuckle after allot of dremmeling I've cracked em and taken them off so we are good to go with the knuckle and dismantle,

The control arms are going to take mounting the engine up a bit, i've got a jack from a neighbor and have got a good plan for getting this done. I'll keep everyone updated on any useful info i find along the way.

Update, We have torn everything down removed axles and the passenger side control arm,
In jacking up the engine it seems i may have slightly opened the gasket on the Transaxle(I hate it here)
At this point i'm getting it back together and am hoping the leak won't be to bad so i can get through inspection but if it's bad i may need to crack my TA case which i am not looking forward to since i don't have a hoist or trans jack. Overall 7/10 would do it better again.

My driver's side control arm is stuck like chuck and I'm struggling here. I've tried heat and penetrating oil but it's stubborn as hell.

Any suggestions? I'm considering cutting the control arm near the bolt. My line of thinking is that it should relieve some of the tension but otherwise I'm at a loss and really don't want to cut and weld here

I can see some weld points where the last sucker to work on this had to slice into it. If I crack this open how deep are the threads? I vaguely remember reading that there is actually a nut in here so I may need to anyway but idk and don't want to break anything else

I'm starting to wonder if they may have welded it on accident

Lower Control arm replacement. Trouble removing them. | PriusChat

Read this entire thread and all the service manuals and I'm headed back outside to heat it up and try to get it off with my impact I've broken about 5 hex drivers now and really need to invest in a better impact or pneumatic.

Anyway long story short for anyone who may need the info later. I highly recommend reading through the thread very informative to learn from others struggles. I had originally skimmed it thinking I'll get back to this later and here I am later
The lower control arm can be cut to relieve tension on the bolt. Or you could heat it up. It is torqued at 170 ft lbs and feeds into a captive weld nut. Toyota service manual has you drop the crossmember for removal.

I'll update when I have it off.
