I purchased the 2026 Toyota Prius XLE AWd. The reverse beeping sound was not enabled. Gemini stated the dealer does not need the reenable the feature. I was unable to find the menu to turn the feature on. Can anyone help with directions?

I'm only 97% certain, but I believe the reverse beeping is one of the options that you either need a dealership or one of the scan tools to do. Like Carista or Carly. I don't think it's accessible through any of the normal menus.

edit: Yep, it's a dealer option(it's listed that way in the customization section of the owner's manual). Some of the third party scanners can do it, but confirm it with the maker of the scanner first before buying any.

To activate the reversing warning, you must go to the dealership or obtain a bidirectional OBD2 scanner which allows customization (coding).
Most OBD2 scanners do not allow it, even if it is bidirectional.
The Carista software does not allow this adjustment either.
The least expensive scanner is the Launch Creader Elite for Toyota which allows all customization adjustments.

I believe the old Dr Prius app could do it on the 3rd gen. Don't know if it still does it or if it works on a gen5. (I haven't used the app since I got my new Prius.)

I believe the app is free(either that or I bought it a loooong time ago). It's a little finicky with which OBD2 adapters it works with, but you can still get the bluetooth Panlong adapter on Amazon for under $15. I keep that one in the car in case I need to read a trouble code out on the road. (I have a muuuuch more expensive Mongoose that I use with my laptop for serious work.)

edit: The android-only Panlong is $13. The android/iOS one is $26.

Crude, but would momentary detachment of the 12 volt battery return it to defaults? Maybe nix other stuff though.

Just a note and clarification - the reverse beep is an internal cabin alarm ONLY - NOT an external commercial large truck reverse alarm.
FWIW: I was able to adjust my gen4 reverse alarm with the free version of Dr Prius.
