    I have P0A78 & P0A94.

What would I look for on a scanner to know if it could read the subcodes? Hoping for something on Amazon for under $200.

Not aware of a standalone toyota hybrid OBD2 scanner that can supply INFs (subcodes) for under 200. If you do find such a device please post the make and model in this thread so that others have the option to purchase as well.

I seem to remember the list of PIDs that vincent1449p reverse-engineered for Gen 1 included where the HV ECU inf codes were stored, so they could be programmed in to an app like Torque, or as XGAUGEs in a ScanGauge, and used to read the codes. The same would work if the corresponding info is in the Gen 2 PID lists floating around. I haven't checked that.

If purchasing, you would look for mention of 'detail code', INF, subcode. If you already have an OBD2 scanner, then look for the above terminology, or possibly a "snow flake", a flower, or smoke cloud icons within the user interface or near the DTC displayed.

After doing a quick search using the search feature here on PriusChat, I found this thread :
Which mentions using Autel Elite scanner and INFs. P3000, no low block voltages, car is run and drive | PriusChat

You need a scanner that will read freeze frame data.

This is exactly what I am working on! I just need soem help from anyone who has a Prius Gen 2 / 3 with active fault code to test it. See below please

    -----

Does your Prius have a fault code right now? If so, I could use your help!! please see below (and DM me if you need any help)

I’m building B.E.T.S.Y. (Battery, Engine & Toyota Scanner for You), an open-source Android Prius diagnostic app.

It can already read raw Toyota INF/detail codes from the hybrid ECU using a standard Bluetooth ELM327 adapter. The next step is decoding them, and for that I need real-world captures.

Looking for Gen 2/3 Priuses (roughly 2004–2015), especially with stored or active faults.

P0AA6, P3000, P3019, or really any fault is useful. Healthy cars help as controls too.

    You need:
    • Gen 2 or Gen 3 Prius
    • Android 8.0+
    • Bluetooth ELM327 adapter

Install B.E.T.S.Y., connect, run the capture, then tap Share. Takes about two minutes.

The app is fully open source, the APK is built from the public source by GitHub Actions, and no VIN, location, or identifying data is uploaded.

    Stored fault code? Even better.

Please DM me if you need any help getting it working.

    Download B.E.T.S.Y. v0.0.2
