I'm wanting to turn my 08 Barcelona red into a tomato for a day
by putting a stem and leaves on top of it to make it look like giant energy efficient tomato! any suggestions?

Ha, this is amazing. Be sure to get pictures and to post them!

Whatever you do, don't put tomato sauce or tomato paste anywhere on your car. It's high acidity may not mesh well with the paint.

You should hang a bottle of Heinz Ketchup from your rearview, and open the hatch tail gate style and get some fresh tomato salsa and guacamole and chips.

Stationary tomato or moving tomato? They are slightly different engineering and artistic problems.

Green felt if you can afford it. Put some weight in the stem with a bag of rice, polyseter fiberfill the rest up to the top. Elastic to hook to the sides. I'll assume the windows are open. You could tie it inside, or maybe use upholstery screw pins to pin it to the headliner.

I'd probably zigzag some florists wire to the leaves to give them a little body, make them "poseable".

How much time do you have? Do you sew?

I think you are on the right track I think I follow your idea, and yes I sew a sewing machine is just a powertool for cloth too bad DeWalt doesnt make a 18v cordless sewing machine.

Use the antenna to help support the stem structure maybe? If you need to open the hatch that might not be the best spot though... on second thought, if the stem gets heavy you don't want to bend your antenna. You probably need some nice insects on there too (as opposed to pests)... maybe a ladybug.

Red plastic or tissue paper over the windows since it will be stationary. You can probably get it at a craft store.
