Do you Folks have enough drivers legroom?

I understand that Prius was intended to fit male drivers up to 6' 2" height. If you are at or beyond that height; or if your legs are longer than normal, then you will be justifiably concerned about legroom.

In that case, maybe the Camry Hybrid or Highlander Hybrid would fit your needs better.

 

At 6-1, I don't have any problem with leg room. Did you adjust the seat all the way back? I don't drive it that way.

 

I've had our Prius for three week and have taken a few 200 mike trips.
I'm 6'3" and the leg room seem to be okay. The only small problem I see is the the seat has to be all the way back which means my arms are extended quite a ways to reach the steering wheel. So far I've learned to live with it.

 

I am just a hair under 6'2" and pretty heavy - I have no problems. In fact, I drive over an hour each way and find it comfortable.

 

Patrick is right. There are stories all over this board about taller people who find the legroom insufficient, and who try to modify the seats by either extending the seat rails and/or lowering the seat height. But there are also stories on this board of people 6'5" and taller who get by with the seats the way they are.

By the way, nyprius found a shop in Massachusetts which modifies car seats for the disabled and the Boston Celtics, and which modified his driver's seat by extending the seat rails 3 inches. I'll dig up the info for you in a couple of minutes, and post it.

I am a 130 lb 5'11 woman, and the leg room is plenty. The only thing I would change about the driver's position is to add a telescoping wheel, and height adjustment to the seat (up/down).

 

I'm 6'4" with a 34" inseam. The leg room is adequate, even on long drives (including a 2000 mile round trip last summer) as long as I take a break every couple of hours. My only complaint is lack of thigh support. Height and angle adjustments for the seat bottom would help. Lacking that, I use an Obus Forme seat support.

 

I think the inseam is really the key. I am 6'3" but have pretty long legs 36"+ inseam and find the leg-room a bit lacking. I can't really straighten my legs all the way. One tip... take off your shoes on long trips. That gets me the extra I need.

Jim I agree.. height adjustment on the front of the seat would be nice as well. I used a rolled up towel for awhile but found it too much hassle.

I'm 6'1" and there is plenty of leg room. I've taken long trips, commuted two hours a day for three years. No problem at all.

 

2008 #2 already has height adjustment. There should be a lever under the steering wheel. It is easy to forget it is there.

 

Agreed, inseam is the issue as height only gives general indications.

At 6'3" (34" inseam) I feel I have plenty of room. My roomate is 6'5" with a 36"+ inseam and his giant knee touches the shift knob.

 

i could be wrong, but i assume you are referring to the height adjustment to the steering wheel? they are referring to the lack of height adjustment to the seat... sorry if i ASSumed incorrectly

 

Its also easy to forget how tired I am! Oops! You are correct - telescoping wheel and height-adjusting seat.

 

what jim said - thigh support could be better.
i'm 6'5". my right knee was a problem hitting the shift lever when i first got the car. it no longer bothers me , i guess i've learned to keep my knee out of the way. it took me about 2 months to adjust, now the space seems fine.

it gets better every time i drive past a gas station without stopping....

 

I'm not happy that I don't have that problem. Kinda short, but I agree about the tilt steering wheel. It would be nice to change the position for a more comfortable fit.

 

Enough legroom, but a telescoping steering wheel would sure be nice. Had to move my seat to a comfortable position for my legs, but then I had to stretch out my arms more than I was used to. If my arms are close in like normal, then my legs are bent.

But I got used to holding the steering wheel a little farther away than normal. Now I don't think about it. I've gone on a few long trips of 600 miles each way. (5'10+, 33" inseam). Seat height and support is fine for me.

 

The Buick has front legroom of 42.5.
The Prius comes in at 41.9. I bet you will hardly notice
