My 2007 Prius with original OEM tires now at 51K miles, I think I can run 10K more.
-80% Freeway
-Rotate every 5K miles
-Check tire pressure every month and keep @37PSI front and rear.

 

You don't subscribe to the 42/40 theory?

I check tire pressure every couple of weeks on all vehicles because of the cold. It's not so bad come summer.

When you rotate, do go front to back and then reverse, or do you do it L back to R front and R front back etc?

 

-42/40 is too pumpy for me.
-Mfg suggests F <--> R that's it.

 

I have stock wheels so I think they are 15".

 

The front tires should be two psi higher than the rear.

I don't think my new Hydroedges are noisy. And I'm happy that my MPGs have gone UP every day since getting them, unlike the TripleTreds I replaced which took 12,000 miles to act like good Prius tires...

35/33 causes tread wear patterns consistent with under-inflation. It's too low. This page from ArtsAutomotive.com discusses the issue (briefly).

The door sticker in my car has two settings, 35/33 for 'city' driving, 38/36 for 'highway' driving. I'd like to know what city they tested 35/33 in, so I can avoid it - the road surface must be terrible.

Personally I use 42/40 - the car seems to just glide along, and handling is also improved, though at the cost of a stiffer ride.
