I just inherited an 08 Prius a few months ago. 85000 miles on it. Had it in the shop to replace the PVC valve.
All the fluids were topped off. They gave me a long list of things that needed to be done but thanks to all the good information here I declined. BTW what is a air conditioning service, besides dealership profit?
Long story short I am on a long road trip. Temps in the 90's, AC on @ 80, MPH's @ 75 to 80. Normally the energy monitor's battery shows bars. Toward the end of the day it was showing a steady 4 bars. Any cause for concern?

I know it's been a while but I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you that I continue to support the Pruis as I've just purchased a 2010 Prius V with the Hi Tech package on it. It's getting all the options we wanted installed and I hope to pick it up next week ...

Say, do they make a bra for this car or would that interfere with the sensors?

My 2006 Prius with 19,000 miles on it, had a warning, "Transmission Mechanism Locked. Set brake and park on flat surface." A battery has been changed and other tests performed, but the same message appears. Have you ever heard of this? The next fix will cost $1000, but it is just another guess. Thank you.

Do you know if the light-bulbs included with the OEM fog-light retrofit kit are 55w?

Another user is using what appears to be a higher wattage yellow bulb (Luminix 55w/130w) as a replacement but I've read reports where these 'overcranked' bulbs (they run hotter to compensate for the colored coating) will burn/melt parts, including fog-light lens and harnesses.

Just wondering if you have any advice. I'd like to use the yellow bulbs as 'true' fog-lights but don't want to do it at the expense of ruining the lens/harnesses or, worse, starting a fire.

I bought the extened warranty from this site in jan of '06. I'm one of the fools that broke my radio button while it was in he out position. I looked over what was online but can't be certain if this would be covered with that extended warranty.

Second quesion. If and when I need to make use of the extened warrranty must I do something other than bring my Prius to a dealer? I mean do I have to produce the contract or is it on their computer records?

I want to suggest a "thumbs up" button icon in the row of icons that appear below every post in every thread. I have wished many times to express my agreement or liking of comments made in so many posts, but currently don't have any suitable outlet (besides replying with "+1" or something). Anything that you can do about it?

Thanks for info about the new USB Interface Kit for the 2010 Prius. We just placed a deposit 7/31 for a Prius IV w/NAV; we're hoping it arrives with a new USB kit installed, or we'll have one installed at the dealership ASAP after its arrival. Clearly we DON'T want the glovebox-mounted iPod adapter cable (I hope the car doesn't come equipped with one already).

The new kit has a white console-mounted iPod adapter cable instead of a glovebox-mounted iPod cable, correct?

Do you know the new kit's Toyota OEM Part # or any other detailed information? Please send/post anything you can (I'm an engineer).

It would be great to see a close-up photo of a USB interface installed in a 2010 Prius, showing the length of the Apple cable, the USB and AUX jacks, the 12Vdc Power jack, etc
