When you did the transaxle fluid change. I saw it was very opaque. Did your prius shudder by any chance?

      Good day F8L,

      I trust you are well.

How do you like my entry in the 800 mile club thread at
      http://priuschat.com/threads/800-mile-club.112703/page-8#post-2113154 ?
Do you think it might qualify for a mention in the rankings? This time last year I managed to reach 800 miles but this year I was nicely surprised with the distance and consumption attained.

      Kind regards

      Jaquimo

I have just bought a new set of FRS wheels. The information which I found on forums so confused. My current wheels are 15, so what do I need for new FRS wheels?
      1. 2x3mm space for rear, nothing on the front? any spec do i need pay attention?
      2. stock lug from FRS wheels are ok?

      Thanks, Please ignore bad knowledge!

I was shocked to see you have a Volt. You have so many posts on this website, I just thought you were complete diehard Prius owner. What happened?

By the way, I trust your opinion as much as anyone about Prii. That includes anyone I know that works for Toyota.

        Thanks, Ryan.

I still love Prius but the Volt is a better fit for me at this point. I just wanted more of an EV feel than Toyota could provide in the Prius and I need more range than the Rav4 EV. I'm a fan of efficient cars. I try to be knowledgable and keep things honest instead of resorting to fanboy arguments. :)

I guess the thing that got me thinking is if larger wheels hurt mpg. then smaller ones could possibly improve mpg. and pics of aftermarket 15" look like there is plenty of clearence for the caliper. I cant decide now if i will try to fit them I probably should so I can get over it.

I think the bolt pattern is 4x100 and I think the offset is similar. but the alum is dirty looking not sure if they would clean up well?
    7. xraydoug
      xraydoug
oops I was wrong on the defender size it is 185-65-14, but after looking at them closer im not sure they are pretty enough for my new car

You seem to know a lot about tire wheel things. I would like to know what you think about using a 14" honda wheel, I have a set with michelin defender that only have 1k on them. I think the size is 195-70-14. I run them with 50psi on my dodge neon that I am going to sell. I dont really like the hubcaps, and I probably would not buy new rims. possibly some used rims, but I already have these I could switch.
      1. F8L
        F8L
Th 195/70/14 is quite a bit larger than the OE 175/65/15 by 0.8". I am not sure the 14" wheel would clear the brakes even if you managed to find a wheel with the correct offset and bolt pattern.

The Defender is a pretty good tire but for the money I would try to sell them on Craigslist and use that money towards new wheels that you like. Put the OE tires on them.

funny that you went from non plug-in to plug-in. Do you like it?
I also had 2x 2010 Prius (III & IV w/Solar Pkg) both of them were Blizzard Pearl.
Now I have 2012 Prius V Adv PKG and 2013 Plug-in both Silver. lol
Did you lower your Plug-in and get new rims? Your Profile picture looks nice. You like charging your car? Isn't it funny. I only had mine for about 2 weeks and I enjoy charging it.

Sounds like you're just as addicted as I am. :)

My avatar pic is my old 2012. It had TRD springs and Lexus wheels. The PIP is stock but I'm lowering it with H&Rs next weekend. I'll keep the OE wheels though. I don't like the loss of mpg with 17" wheels nor the decrease in ride comfort. Unfortunately I have a 100+ mile commute so I don't get to fully utilize the charge like it's meant to be.

100+ mile commute?! Geeze. that's rough.
Mine is much less but still will take about 2 hrs. b/c of park and ride (mass transit) Why did you get the plug-in if you know you will not get to take advantage of the short 13 mile range battery?

btw; one thing I really miss going from prius IV to V is my sunroof! I know Plug-in Advanced also does not have sunroof. Do you miss it as well?

Yup. Here are the items or ones very similar. Once you get into the store you will find a variety of items that may work better for you. Just make sure you mount everything to studs and NOT drywall itself. lol

Hey Buddy! Me again to pick your brain!! I like your recommendation of 17x7 and 205/50/17 tires.
I just realized Discounttiredirect has free shipping.
I'm considering wheels with only a 38mm offset. I don't care about 'flushness'.
I would like tire center line to remain stock and not so inboard that there is suspension interference. Have you heard of anyone getting by with 38mm offset?
      1. F8L
        F8L
That combo will work fine as long as you don't SLAM the car. If you use a regular lowering spring or stay stock then you will not have any problems with a 7" wheel and 38mm offset. I ran a 15x7" wheel with a 38mm offset which is almost the same outside diameter as a 205/50/17.

Hey Buddy! I hope you're enjoying the clean power you are now using!

Is this a good way to contact you?

I'm trying to figure out exactly what the specs are for a 17" wheel for a Gen3.
      { Width?, 5x100, +45mm, and center bore ? }
There is so much to read and so few facts.

I knew you would know. Can you point me to a thread or a list somewhere? Thanks!
      1. F8L
        F8L
Hiya Bill! You can use a 17x7", 17x7.5", 17x8" wide wheel. The offset should ideally be between 42mm and 46mm. The perfect setup IMO is 17x7" and 45mm offset and as light of a wheel as you can afford. 5x100 is the correct bolt pattern. The place that installs the wheels for you can supply you with the correct hub adapter if needed.

Thanks for the reply! I'm getting ready to buy the wheels talked about in this thread: 2013 Scion FRS Wheels. I have been posting and hopefully we are near the end of figuring this out.
What do you think? It seems these wheels had interference problems.

        Thanks again, Bill

If you are interested in the tires let me know. I want to get rid of them ASAP since they are wrapped up in bags from America's tires in the back of my Prius taking up space and killin my gas mileage haha. So email me if your interested. I can meet up somewhere if you can't make it all the way to SF. [email protected]

Hey , Im not sure if you got my last message but you said you would give me some help picking out tires for my new wheels. I ended up getting 16 inch and they are 6.5 inch wide. The stock upgrade tires on the C are Bridgestone Turanza EL400 195/50/16 but I cant find them anywhere to buy , just the EL400 195/60/16. Will those work? What is your opinion? Thanks
