Using the Remote Climate if you have the Advanced model comes in handy because both the front and rear defroster come on without engaging ICE. But...
when the temperature reaches -14 degrees F or below ICE will definitely come on. Last December or January it was -7 degrees and ICE kicked in for me.
You can still leave climate on, just not front defroster:D
Leaving front defroster off. And driving down side streets that have a speed limit of 25 MPH.:D

One habit I find myself doing is going on Google Maps to see how far I'm going on a particular trip or trips and if I need to stop by a Charge...
