    They're tech writers, not photographers. A D1x or some super DSLR isn't going to make the photos any better...indeed it increases the chances...

    It should not roll 2 feet, not even a full 1 foot, IMO. You'll feel it rock a few inches until the parking pawl engages, but not more than that....
