It's much, much less efficient and therefore, to me anyway, vastly inferior.
If your car goes from 50 to 70 in 3 seconds, you'll only net 44 feet in that time. That isn't enough room to pass anyone. You need to net around...
If the difference between 3 and 7 seconds matters, I wouldn't pass. I don't pass on a two lane unless I know I'm going to clear any cars coming my...
No. Power electronics can make the power flow into or out of the motors at any rate at any time within capacity limits. If you let off the...
Maybe that was the problem. Should have used charge mode.
Did you force charge in drive with gas pedal and brake or put it in charge mode?
So, it did that to me as well but only at pretty high throttle settings. I don't think two-motor usage is possible when the battery is nearly...

Was the battery near dead?
There's a catch-all: "The gasoline engine may also operate in circumstances other than those listed above, depending on conditions."
Of course it did - look at the bold text.
Emphasis mine: EV driving may be canceled automatically in the following circumstances: ●When vehicle speed is more than approximately 84 mph...
No - they are permanent magnet motors. Excitation is fixed. Power electronics completely control the currents to/from these motor/generators.
No it's not. I do it regularly since my route to work is on a regular truck route due to the fact that my office's neighbor is a rock mine....
I'm reasonably sure it cools the cabin and draws cabin air to cool the battery.
The Prime can do that too. OM, Page 127. “Traction Battery Cooler” When the hybrid battery (traction battery) is hot, this function protects it...
Well, the Prime has 15 schedules.
Why can't you use multiple schedules? The manual says up to 15 charge schedules can be set.
Drains it in months, not days. One other point is that having the battery at full charge, especially if it's hot, is bad for battery longevity....
That makes a whole bunch of sense. Thanks for the effort!
