I think you will see less and less cars with spares moving forward. Not saying I'm for or against this, just my opinion on what I am seeing.
How far into the HSI bar do you go when accelerating usually? And do you have to regen a ton when braking? What are your EV MPGe numbers like?
If your commute is less than 3 miles and you start out from a garage why would you start the ICE? You'll get almost zero benefit out of starting...
