02 with dead hybrid battery transmision stuck in park can't move in garage to change battery

    I got the shifter to un-lock & moved to neutral but tans still stuck in park,

    Are you sure you've checked all other possibilities? Parking brake? Sticking calipers?

    Later Prii have more complicated "park" systems. On the Gen 1 it's a really simple cable from the shift lever to the tranny. If you've moved the lever out of Park the tranny should really not be in Park ... unless the cable is somehow disconnected or something else really dead simple that you would see if you followed the cable and looked.

    OK, I will look & see car sat a long time my be cable disconnected ( broke) or calipers froze up will look again. thanks.

    brakes froze up, loosen up wheels moves now.

    Mine dead too. Can't shift out of park in order to push out of garage. Help!

    If the 12 volt battery is too low for the shift interlock to work, you have to use the manual release lever so you can shift to neutral. I put the details in the other thread you started on the topic.
