Hey everyone, have an 04 Gen 2 with 240k whose engine just went out. Blew a head gasket, water got into the case and shop says there's rust in the cylinders. Just looking for the best value option. Still want a hybrid, could probably do the engine job myself skill wise except I don't have all the tools or engine hoist. I can get another engine with warranty on ebay for $400 and labor cost is $1200 to remove and replace. What's my best bet?

Replace the engine. You probably can find shops to do it for $500, just gotta call around
